I study 40 plus books on nutrition and had cancer for 14 years. Although I’m taking Xtandi. I’m here because I was raw vegan for 10 years and now I’m still full 100% vegan. I drink 40 ounces of home made vegetable juice. My psa now is .1!!! I’m from india and when I came to America I started meat and couldn’t digest. I had constipation for years. This guy is 1000% right. I’m living proof!!!! Meat cases Utica acid, not only for prostate but even for other sicknesses like arthritis, I had been through a lot with my cancer journey. My psa eventually went to 1300 in mid 2022. Now it’s .1. With no pain and my weight is back to normal to 139. I was 90 pound February 2023. Now lift weight every day and my energy is phenomenal. Yes Xtandi did for me and I also believe it’s synergistic affect of my raw vegan diet which is 80% raw and only eat cooked beans, lentils, mung beans etc. no meat!!! No Sugar, no carbs period. And most of all I give all the glory to my Lord Jesus Christ.

Excellent information and an interesting speaker. Getting into the details of how to eat to protect our bodies once we have prostate cancer would have taken days if not months. One step that I am going to take right away is to cut back on my daily consumption of meat. I don't eat red meat at all but I eat chicken most every day. Thanks for the heads up.

True, eating whole grain (oats for example) has a more gradual effect on blood sugar levels than that of refined sugars but carbohydrates in whole grains (and all carbohydrates) eventually break down into glucose in the body. In order to retain muscle mass protein is needed. Animal protein contains the full complement of amino acids necessary for muscle growth and is readily bioavailable. This issue is an extremely subjective topic. Personally I stay away from all processed foods, most carbs and all seed (vegetable) oils. I eat once a day in the evening, a soup (tomato, chicken and vegetable, broccoli or cauliflower), fatty red meat or pork/chicken usually with eggs or fish/seafood and fermented yoghurt dessert with berries. The soups , yoghurt and berries are all home made/grown and the meat is locally sourced. I do not drink alcohol (ok, now and again I'll have a few beers). I've looked at the carnivore and vegan diets but decided against either. PSA went from 3,500 to 35 in 4 months and is now

The other thing about grains is the glyphosate or round up that is sprayed on them. Very toxic. I avoid all grains and am sticking to primarily a “ketovore” diet. I agree that this is very subjective as you see information on all sides. You have to do what is best for you. My understanding is that the commonality amongst all cancer is that they love, sugar, acid and no oxygen.

Mark, since you have been on ADT for the last 11 months how do you know if the diet make any difference on reducing the PSA?
@Mark_Lacey
@Mark_Lacey Ай бұрын
@@albertku1130 HiAlbert. The simple answer is I don't know. I've done a lot of research on Dr Thomas Seyfried's work. He contends that all cancers use fermentation of glucose and glutamine as a metabolic pathway. What he says makes a lot of sense to me. But part of that metabolic (or proliferation) process must involve testosterone. ADT results in a huge initial reduction of tumour proliferation and that is what has brought my PSA down. But PC tumours eventually become resistant to ADT. So what's after that? Radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy? Diet has a massive impact on one's health, no doubt. I started keto 10 months before my diagnosis. I felt great and still do. I have had three falls since my diagnosis, my legs taken away by my dog chasing another, felled me like a tree, fell off my motorbike (drunk - doesn't take much LOL) last month and fell off a step ladder last week (that was a bugger, landed flat on my front, banged my chin on the concrete floor. Heavily bruised ribs from the bike fall, painful jaw from the ladder fall. Point is I never broke anything. Arm, ribs, jaw, nothing. I am a very active farmer, out all day. I eat my fermented (i.e no lactose) yoghurt daily which I believe keeps my gut healthy and bones strong. I understand meat contains glutamine but it is an essential amino acid, feeding the immune system and I think a healthy immune system outweighs the tumour's need for glutamine. But I can avoid as much as possible glucose in my diet. I know the liver will produce glucose through gluconeogenesis but ketones provide cellular energy cancer cells cannot use. So I've eventually settled on my preferred diet. Tomatoes are a biggy for me, Indian curries, lamb stews and shakshuka being amongst my favourites with the soups and mulberries I grow. I supplement with magnesium, vitamin D3, zinc, mebendazole with cimetidine and tamsulosin to relax the prostate. I recently started 2mg melatonin which has massively improved my insomnia. Sorry for the essay but I thought I'd share my regime. What about you? Thoughts on what you do?

Diet plays a huge part in overall health. Plant based diets are a good start when dealing with this. A food first mentality should always be the first step prior to prescription remedies. If you do eat meat, moderation is key as it is for all things. Stay away from cured and smoked meats as well as ultra processed foods. The goal is to manage this until it forces you to make a decision. The hope is to wait it out long enough for a possible cure to be developed that does not affect the quality of your life. In my opinion, food first is the way. These are things you can control. Also alcohol and caffeine intake not at all or highly moderated.

When talking about sugar, I blend a fruit smoothie and drink about 300 ml every hour until it's finished. Usually 3 x 300 ml. Is the sugar content in fresh fruit too much? Or do I just need to cut out processed sugar - which I have done anyway.

His advice was eating "wholefoods", eating "in moderation" and "eliminating food that is aggravating your condition". 1) So eat those damn eggs, whole eggs white and yolk. 2) Don't eat too much eggs (natural birds don't lay eggs everyday). 3) If the eggs increases your PSA, you might want to eliminate it or cut down on it. 4) Animal protein (even egg whites) are still high in byproducts of ammonia, sulfur, purines etc... You can eat them, but don't over do it. Same advice with plants, don't over do just one variety. Peace :)

I looked at a bunch of literature and there seems to be a consistent increase in risk say about 1.1 or higher if you consume whole milk. Other dairy is less conclusive. Milk induces inflammation and I would avoid it, especially if you are at risk for PC

Maybe a more holistic approach on diet should be considered by each individual. As a PC patient who just went through radiation treatment, I also have prediabetic that is getting worse, and other health problems. If we cut off all the animal protein just for the consideration of PC but make other problems more pronounced (such as eating more grains that caused more blood sugar issue or lose more muscle etc), is that advisable? Our goal should be overall health that can last. Also has this diet proven to help the remission of PC? I have talked to several doctors in this field and they all disagree.

I made this shift at the time of my original diagnosis.. a lot of food you eat either contains no animal fats or you can easily substitute, like using more olive oil. Protein substitute for me was the bigger question and challenge. I have gotten to absolutely love beans, tofu, tempeh etc. I got there thru getting to love to cook and find recipes I wanted to eat. For me curries, Asian food, Mexican etc

Generally, I agree with his attitude and knowledge about food. However, I am still eating fish and chicken around once per day. One problem is what does “meat” or animal mean: meat milk and eggs? Are all animal meats the same? I think not. Protein is more important than is being acknowledged. But, the larger problem and with nutritionists in general is that the relation between food and prostate cancer is not given in a genetic context. Cancer is a genetic disease and not caused by food. Nutrition addresses general body health as seen here in the discussion regarding blood cells, fat and sugar. The issue is about whether and how food affects the genetic processes of mitosis that are out of control with cancer. So far, no one can make a food to genes connection, but I am all ears.

In the USA, I think we resent the idea that anything is genetic. We have a paradigm that says we have total free will, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. It is too bad, since you cannot come up with solutions when starting from a flawed premise.

People live without mean protein for hundreds of years. People say we are hunter and gathers but it was totally different life humans thousands of years ago. We were always outside hunting and gathering. There was no farm cultivation during the beginning of the civilization. Everything was wild. Plus humans were running a lot to get away from predators. lol. Imagine it there stress level was only when they were running from predators. Now we are 24/7 stressed out. 95% of the times diseses are triggered by our stress level.
