I did the eleimination for the 21+ days and I have literally reset my gut. I’m 53 and have taken daily prescribed heartburn meds (Omeprazole) since I was 25. I stop consuming alcohol completely and then finally did the “reset”. I can truly say I will NEVER go back to alcohol, processed foods and all sugar/sweeteners. I am for the first time in over 25 years feeling healthy again and take zero medications. Did I forget to mention that I’ve had severe lower back pain for the last 7 years? The inflammation and pain is more than 50% reduced! This not a “diet” in my opinion, it’s a life changing eye opening reset! Thanks Dr. Hyman!

I felt sick from eating the sweet food for breakfast first. Later I ate the oatmeal first and had a much better result. I whole heartedly stand by foods that have or are ANTI INFLAMMATORY. Quitting refined and fake sugars, wheat, and sulfites was the best thing I ever did for my gut and overall health. Also haven't had alcohol in a very long time (stopped due to medical conditions and medications, but don't miss it anyways. Made me feel icky.) Weight loss was so much more attainable without the constant gut inflammation. Even my prescription enzymes dosage is down. I also taste things better than I have in years. For example, ripe bananas are actually super sweet. Didn't seem like it when I was consuming refined sugars. UPFs are horrid and make me FLC. Love that acronym by the way! I'd rather be hungry for a few hours than feel crappy from the "convenience" of UPFs. I keep a mini pantry of convenient grab-and-go good foods like nuts, fruit/veggies, unsweetened greek yogurt, and bottled/canned water at work so I'm not without a decent choice if I'm occasionally stuck without a real meal break. That also keeps an emergency stash on hand for my students. Food insecurity is real and offering poor food choices doesn't help my students stay healthy.

Beans are fine, just soak them and rinse after cooking. Preferably buy organic beans. Combine them with the right foods.
@virginiaalt12454 ай бұрын
Beans should be soaked at least overnight, 24-hours is even better, which allows them to start sprouting which greatly reduces the indigestibility of beans. Next, beans should be pressure cooked which again aids digestibility. Then refrigerating them turns them into resistant starch and makes them even healthier. You don't have to rinse the beans after cooking with these procedures.

T1D here. Not one single doctor, diabetic nurse, nutritionist or dietitian I've had in the last 20 years never talks about this. Every single one of them says that I need to stick to the "standard balanced diet" and manage the carbs with insulin. And that's wit me living in the south of England and now south west of Wales. It's utterly depressing and lonely.

@@coyley72 I am so glad you have found what works to improve your health! It's very disappointing that our traditional doctors don't promote this. But I have learned that most of them aren't taught much about the value of proper nutrition in school. Many learn after their health or a family member's health deteriorates and traditional health care fails to improve it. And while I hate to see anyone suffer, I am thrilled that the experience becomes the catalyst for a dogged pursuit of root causes + REAL solutions. I am transitioning from gluten free to 99% grain free clean baking. So I have a question about xanthan gum, which you list as an emulsifier. Very small amounts are often included in gluten/grain free recipes to replace wheat gluten. Is this really harmful to the gut? A serving might have a tiny pinch. Another emulsifier that I've used is organic sunflower lecithin, as a supplemental source of important phospholipids like phosphatadyl choline. Is this also not advised?

Doc, I stopped eating sugar and all processed foods over 7 years ago. Then I did that deadly carnivore diet for 5 years and developed leaky gut from 5 years of ZERO FIBER. My gut is healed but I still have adrenal fatigue and chronic inflammation and it’s been almost 2 years since I stopped being carnivore. I wish your suggestions worked for me, but I’m already doing almost all that you say. I also quit all caffeine 120 days ago. Very slow recovery. It sucks.

This advice frustrates me so much. My problem is keeping enough weight on (I fully understand most people don’t see this as a problem). I have cut out most processed food and lost 10 pounds which I could not afford to lose and now I can’t gain it back. I eat full fat grass fed dairy products- cheese, butter, yogurt and loads of nuts and avacado, etc and it makes no difference. Dairy is not an issue for me. If I cut those out I would surely drop to under 100 pounds. Also according to the internet most commercially raised sheep and goats are fed diets with corn and grain. How is this better than cow feed and why would there milk be better?

Here with an itchy atopic dermatitis that started a week ago, answering yes to all of the above without the cold or migraines. I started adding carbs to my diet in the form of rice, and rice noodles. I wanted a more mindful eating approach like a Japanese course meals aesthetics and here we are. I guess my miso soups weren't as healthy and the seaweed on everything didn't do good. also the mochis as a desert was a no-no. I come from keto, carnivore, etc. but just eating beef was not helping my mind feeling discourage of feeling like an extremist. I wanted colorful and portioned meals to enjoy. I can't blame the alfalfa sprouts, or the raw tuna though. I just wish I can tolerate food better, I don't do any refined anything, aside a week of trying one matcha mochi for desert. I'm trying to find balance in between feeling normal and not having constipation and swell itchy skin.
