Very informative video as always, especially the fact about trust paying for relocation. Although, I do have a question about the fees being reduced by 50% on having cleared MRCS - How does that work? Is there is a timeline by which you have to clear MRCS to avail this discount? If you have already paid more than half of the fees, will they refund the money on clearing MRCS? Thank You!!
@EkanshDebuka4 жыл бұрын
I would like to clear this point here - the 50% reduction of fee can't be availed if a trust sponsors your Visa which would be the case for the Mch. It would probably work if you were already working in the UK and decided to do the Mch separately. Also, if you have paid half the fees - you would be the first to get any refund :) !

Thanks so much for feedback Dr Aliyev. We will try and improve on the sound quality next time, good to know what we can do better. MRCS by itself would generally not land you a fellowship straight away but definitely adds a point in your favour. I would apply for both, see what I can get and then decide.

Dear Pradeep, if the answers were this straightforward - everyone would be doing one or the other. Please go through our other videos and try and understand what the course is about a little more. Hey guys, i have a couple of queries - 1. does clearing all stages of MRCS guarantee a non-training job (if you want to build up your CT clinical skills if you havent met their required standards) or a direct placement into ST3 (provided you have the required CT clinical skills)? 2. what happens if ive cleared MRCS but did not getting placed? any possibility? if so, what should be my next step to progress forward? Thank you.
@EkanshDebuka3 жыл бұрын
1. It doesn't "guarantee" a non training job. It matches a requisite they usually expect for it. As most applicants applying for a Non training job have an MRCS it becomes almost a requisite. For placement into ST3, you must sit through the ST3 interview process like regular trainees. 2. If you dont get a Registrar level job with your MRCS, you either have to wait and keep trying or maybe consider taking an SHO level job to start with.

I have a similar question. As you have mentioned in your other videos, how to apply for a job after MRCS; what is the likelihood of getting selected for a non-trainee job after MRCS for someone who has some but not all the boxes checking off from the things that they require on your portfolio/CV ?( Like many in India don't have PubMed publications, audits, teaching experience or a non-medical degree etc.)
@EkanshDebuka3 жыл бұрын
@@SM-kz8jg Its hard to put a number to it as it depends on several factors like how many people are applying and how qualified are they. Any trust would like to get the best fit they can find to their need. Also, Visa issues come into play and also your performance on the actual interview.

Hi Suchitra, working in a private setup is ok.. you should get a letter from the doctor or hospital to state as much with a brief descriptions of your role and responsibilities. You should have been constantly employed for the 12 months before applying. The second part of the question is - what works for you. We've touched on that in some of our videos, please have a look and it'll help you decide what suits your situation better. If you still have questions, please post them here or send us an email at yourmentor121@gmail.com.

@adityamalik4414 жыл бұрын
Hi Sujay. To get a CCT you need to enter the training programme through portfolio evidence and interview whilst competing with the local CT level trainees. Know that in the portfolio you are at a disadvantage as you gets points taken off for achievements you have made in your career (including in india) as opposed to a junior CT doctor who has worked perhaps less than a year in T and O. youd be surprised how significant it is. However, if you do enter the formal training programme , you start at ST3 and end at ST8 ( it is 6 years before you get CCT, once you start). you are expected to complete FRCS at ST6-7 years of your training. If you wish sit FRCS from india, please note it will not be the actual coveted british FRCS exam, but a corollary exam set up for international graduates called the iFRCS (international FRCS), part B of which is held in Kuala lumpur. although the examiners, the exam pattern and the examining body are the same, it is not accepted by the GMC and will not allow you to apply for specialist register entry. it will only be a namesake exam, and if you wish to practice in india in the long run, might as well sit for that only as it doesnt matter if you are not in the UK. hope this clarifies a bit

@KiddoSurgeon_DrAR3 жыл бұрын
To settle in Australia, one has to clear the FRACS/ACS exams! Most of the times, overseas candidates are provided non-trainee fellowships/observerships than the actual trainee position. And the trainees get a higher chance to become faculty there. Rest all might have to return eventually (if the RACS exams aren't cleared by the meantime)

@adityamalik4413 жыл бұрын
Hi Dr Mitra, to be honest, not really. UK is short on SHO level workforce. They actually prefer experiences doctors in SHO roles to help fill the rota gaps, and gives you a taste of working in NHS at junior level. Once you enter , depending on your arrangements with the trust, your surgical and clinical skills and your relationships in your department, you can progress to registrar level, as long as there is a vacancy. it can sometimes be tricky, so ensure you speak to your employing consultants at the onset and start of your job with regards to career progress and support to move up the ladder.

Can I give MRCS after MBBS?
@EkanshDebuka3 жыл бұрын
If you’re considering MRCP/MRCS instead of PLAB, check first whether it is even required for your target specialty. MRCP is only required for specialty training in medical specialties eg. Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology. It is not required to enter training for other specialties such as Paediatrics, Psychiatry, GP, Ophthalmology, Surgery etc. This seems to be a common misconception. Make sure you know your training pathway so you don’t take unnecessary exams. MRCS is required for most surgical specialties. It is not required for Obstetrics or Ophthalmology.
