Really great guide! Just one suggestion for mouse users I have learned (even though I use VKBs myself): Instead of changing the VJoy range/pitch settings, set a key (on a mouse button if possible) for Flight - Movement -> Cycle mouse mode (VJoy / Relative) this switches your mouse movement between (fast) turning (VJoy) and precision aiming mode (Relative). It's pretty much the same as using a turret and pressing Q to switch between VJoy & FPS mode

I don't know if you are looking for suggestions for other videos, but if you are i have been looking for someone to go through the basics of what to think about during flight in combat, and i know i'm not the only one looking for that :) I know that i'm not supposed to fly fast in combat, but that's about it. So if you want to go make a video like this where you go through what you think about during dogfighting that would be awesome. Anyway I love your videos. Stay awesome

Great video Noodle. I would love you to answer two questions! 1. Ok, so I have VKB sticks and have been trying to revamp my flight style for decoupled. But when flying in atmo, my brain has such a hard time keeping my hand flexed on the rotational axis of the joystick to keep from falling out of the sky in combat. I end up kind of lazily sliding slowly lower and lower on an angle and slamming into the ground. I’ve also found it hard in atmo to keep fixed weapon pips on target with the variable flexing of up and down strafe. Any advice? Do you recouple in atmo? Turn on vtol? Thanks! 2. Would love a video about how you use missiles and countermeasures in pvp. Came over from Mike’s channel and I have not been disappointed. Awesome videos so far!
@Moist_Noodle11 ай бұрын
Hey man, thanks for the question, they're both good ones. 1. You've already identified the issue, so what's the solution? If you're slowly drifiting down then that identifies to me that the spring of the twist is working against you. It might be worth looking at either adding the Z extention to the stick, to make it work more like a motorcycle, this might make it a bit more intuitive to you OR add peddles to the mix. 2. I tend not to use missiles to damage targets, instead I reserve them for when a target who is faster than me is running away. When a target trichords (thrusting on 3 axis) it reduces the max speed of the ship. When firing a missile I often find targets trichord to evade the missle, which allows me to catch up. In regards to countermeasures, flares are almost entirely broken right now, but I do see people dropping chaff/noise to lose target lock, which is smart. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video! Just a precision from an expert please. In the clips showcasing PIP and better aiming, I feel like you're moving the PIP on the target while ingame for me it's more like I need to move my crosshair to the PIP which is always ahead of my target's vector. I don't know, it might be another setting I missed or messed up. Thanks for your help!
@Moist_Noodle11 ай бұрын
I'm actually going to cover this exact topic in my basic flight maneuvers video with SaltEMike, but I'll try to elaborate a bit here. Apologies if this is explaining any concepts you already know. When you strafe, it moves your targets pip. You can test this by getting a friend to sit still, you target them and then move your ship. You'll see THEIR pip move. I fly in such a way that I half aim with my pitch and yaw, then use my strafes to drag the pip towards the crosshair. I'll also very often pre-aim ahead of the pip. Something to bear in mind is that your main engines and upstrafe are your most powerful thrusters, so if you're trying to drag the pip to your crosshair, use that upstrafe. Roll so the pip is at 12 o'clock from your crosshair, so you're strafing up to drag the pip. Hope this makes sense. I'll talk in more depth about it in my BFM training video.

Would there be a situation where you sit your weapon convergence to an engagment range and not target an enemy to stay more hidden and fire or would em,ir cs just reveal you anyway? Thinking in a stealth engagment thought proccess
@Moist_Noodle11 ай бұрын
The only time I specifically don't target is when I'm trying not to spook a target. Like if I'm pirating and watching someone load their ship, or if I'm flying towards a target and I don't want to let them know I'm there until the last moment. But as for keeping a target unlocked for the whole engagement, not really.

Very good video! As a brand new player: is there a reason to not push speed limiter to the max when flying normally? Like when i see videos of people delivering cargo and stuff they always have it at the max of the blue, never the red and I don’t get why, I just push it to max and fly around
@Moist_Noodle11 ай бұрын
I normally turn off the limiter entirely, which is essentially like turning it up to max. The only reason to keep the limiter on is to help with landing in coupled mode imo.
