Great video. What you actually describe is less raw RPS asymmetry and more Combined Arms. But either way you think of it it points up the reality that SC is going to be a game that rewards coordinated group effort. Sure there will still be highly individualized roles, but even those will best succeed when done as part of an overall group effort.

Always wanted to be a sort of Fleet fighter down the line with an org, being able to take off from say a big ship to join in and fight with a wing is a dream for me, I own a couple of big ships already but if I was to play with a group I want to be in my Arrow. The arrow was my first ship and I got it when it came out, love it to bits and even if down the line it wont be "meta" or anything like that I'll forever love my first ship.

I'm pretty much the same as you. Being a support fighter in a fleet is the dream for me. The Arrow is also my favourite ship and not for meta reasons. I got to go for dinner with the concept artist and he was a genuinely lovely guy, a great memory.

Good video, very well thought out. It is so refreshing to see someone who truly understands combat and the direction CIG are moving towards in SC combat, instead of just harping on about which fighter is best this patch. 👍 Ship knowledge is just as important as pilot skill, even more so probably, knowing the strengths and weakness of ships and their capabilities and then knowing how to use that information to your advantage can turn the tide of a battle. I joined SC for many reasons, but fleet style combat with many types and roles was a major part of that.

I chose combat ships for their looks and their long term planned features. A lot of combat ships are somewhat broken because they have their fire power and shields nerfed yet armor and advanced targeting sensors are not yet added to the game. I am not worried about this and in the end, I expect no meta ships or meta loadouts. Just the right ship and loadout for the players play styles and method of operation. Can't wait for ship armor and system redundancies such as that on the Super Hornet to turn it into a flying tank

I also think that you always put two ships against one ship there, in almost every example? Except the hammerhead versus the eclipse maybe. But that seems.. Kinda unrealistic? I think it's more complicated than this, because in all the examples enemy ships might intertwine with other attack groups to support the enemy friends? Imagine the enemy team has a copy of you, telling the enemy ships which target to focus down. And it's a real mess, right?

Yes in almost every example it's 2 versus 1, because you shouldn't be flying without a wingman supporting you.

As I explained in the video, it was an actual scenario. And no, it's not a bad example. A ship or pilot doesn't lose capability because they're flying with a wingman. An Arrow versus an Inferno for example will still end the same way whether the arrow had a wingman or not. What the wingman is there for is to protect the arrow from third parties.

@@Moist_Noodle It's a bad example, because one team is outmanned, outshipped and outgunned = higher chances of winning by default, as you showed even with tactics (rock, paper, scissor) on top, so even more OP for the winning team there. You mentioned also the same pilot/crew skills, but not the same tactical overview? But that seems like easy math, because more ships usually wins, which is why you also said you recommend more ships instead of going with a 2-man ship. So come with an example where there's equal amount of ships (or less ships even) where tactic is what makes one team (with less ships) win. That's where the tactic combat skills really shines, and that's what's fun, right? "An Arrow versus an Inferno for example will still end the same way whether the arrow had a wingman or not." No, because then it's not an arrow versus inferno, then it's two arrows versus one inferno, and that can turn the battle. Inferno can only target 1 at a time, so more targets makes it harder for a solo ship to deal with, since the one not targeted can just sit on its ass and fire away constantly. Unless none of them can penetrate the shield due to gun sizes and too large target, then it's different. Then the arrow shouldn't target the inferno unless it's a tactic for evasive tanking and pilot manages. Wingman could protect from third parties, but that's what I mean it's intertwining more, because then it's wingman (also an arrow for instance) versus ship that wants to help the Inferno, maybe a Redeemer. And then it's one on one, inferno vs arrow and redeemer vs arrow. But who says the Redeemer doesn't have a wingman also? So it gets complicated real fast :D
