A dozen Sinclair C5s on the road | Felixstowe Run 2022

Superb video, our school had a C5 back in 1986 I used to watch from the classroom window thinking how much fun they looked, got to ride one a few years later, they are great fun off road but I felt way too vulnerable on the road. The best upgrade is what the Belgian fella did, take off the motor at the rear and fit a front mounted hub motor, there is plenty of room for lipo batteries so ditch the lead acid batteries, easy option is to run off 50V lipo lawn mower batteries which have a BMS and tend to be cheaper than ebike batteries or if you are more technical simply run from model lipo cells. It's great to see a community for these little vehicles which were much maligned at the time however now you can have the most expensive Tesla drive down the road and nobody looks but if one of these drives down the road every body looks! Thanks for the feedback. Agreed Mark has a superb setup with the hub motor and LiFePo batteries. Love the comment about the Tesla. You’re right, everyone smiles when they see a C5.

Disc brakes do give much better performance. I’ve now got one on the back wheel.

I think the C5 is rather niche. Mainly restricted by the weather. Thanks for the welcome back! Did some filming at this year’s event so hopefully will get that out soon.

Would have throughout thought you'd have increased the motor RPM to 50 + (70 motorway) mph adding new lithium battery 🔋 cells tabbed into 1 unit. New motor and pedal motor controller plugin
