The 8th Annual Dos Hermanas Chess Tournament held from May 20th to June 2nd, 1996 was a category XIX event. Ten of the world's best players, including the World Champion, competed in a round robin format. The participants were (in order of ELO): Garry Kasparov (2775), Vladimir Kramnik (2775), Vassily Ivanchuk (2735), Gata Kamsky (2735), Vishwanathan Anand (2725), Veselin Topalov (2700), Boris Gelfand (2700), Alexei Shirov (2690), Judit Polgar (2675), and local Spanish favorite Miguel Illescas-Cordoba (2635). Kramnik and Topalov took first as co-champions, each with 6/9, edging out Kasparov and Anand by half a point.

@@doone8849 Judit is the greatest female chess player of all time so she's considered as the Queen of chess. Topalov obviously saw the mate in 2 but instead decided to 'capture' the white Queen thereby winning -against- THE Queen (of chess).

@@stoutlager6325 yeah but it feels like there's some extra familiar spite in it xd it's something I'd do if I felt my opponent was dragging their attack on unreasonably, dismissing the fact that they couldn't afford it anymore, overestimating their position and underestimating my skill. I'd bully them by dragging the game as well and taking all of their pieces slowly instead ending it quick.

Completely new game, as in hasn't been played for a long time. Some of these positions certainly exist at lower levels, but aren't always reached by Grand Masters.
