I once had a wild dream like this that ended with my mother finding one of those magnetic etch-a-sketch tablets kids have in our laundry room and asking me, "What are you doing?! You know you're not supposed to be using that to go on the internet!" and instead of me questioning how I would use an etch-a-sketch to go on the internet I just held up my wicker basket with cubed fruit, a live grenade, and a pipe bomb and told her "I WAS A LITTLE PREOCCUPIED" can confirm. you just Know Things in dreams.

I personally wouldn't mind if my dreams were a bit more stilted. I often have dreams about my loved ones hating/attacking me and it always leaves me a total mess in the morning. I'd love an explanation why, I mean it's always either my mom or my best friend who have never ever hurt me in my life that are the most apathetic and cruel towards my dream self no. Like what is my brain trying to tell me? Also why am I almost always a woman in my dreams?

@@monkeydad47 I relate on the last point, I'm very often playing other people in my dreams, which means I'm often some other woman or man, and sometimes I shift from one person and back into myself near the end of it. One time I was a woman who was friends with another person in the dream, and knew them very well, but when I became myself again, I didn't know the other person anymore, and reacted as such, which upset the other person. This reminds me of the time I had a dream that I met 6 people for the first time, and then we all did a specific dance together. Then, when I woke up I went for a run and while I was at a rest stop I saw those 6 people. It was as if fate had caught me up in its riptide, so I had to go over to them and tell them about my dream. They were all chill and decided to complete the prophecy. So me and 6 strangers all did the dance together in a circle that my dream had foretold. By far one of the most surreal experiences of my life.

What really adds to the unsettling nature of it is how Brian and Karen ADR'd their lines and it didn't quite match what their mouths were doing. And how that meant there was no echo or sounds from the environment that should be there. And also made it so their voices stayed the same volume throughout no matter how far away the camera got. Really pushed the oddness of it all to another level. Edit: ADR means automated dialogue replacement, which means they recorded the audio they spoke later and dubbed it over the footage instead of using audio recorded at the same time as filming in the same space. When done poorly it becomes noticeable, or intentionally poorly as done here, it can weird out audience members like an audio uncanny valley.

@@Starrlytts My most vivid dreams are usually pretty realistic and sometimes strangely consistent throughout, and totally non-lucid. I sometimes get these sorts of weird dreams during those late afternoon naps, or when I fall back asleep after waking up, the reality is just way less consistent and everything feels weird, and I'm vaguely aware that what's happening isn't real but I don't quite realize I'm dreaming usually, and often something freaky happens out of nowhere that causes me to wake up in panic. Those are also the times I get recursive waking dreams, on rare occasion. I've only gone lucid during the more realistic dreams a few times. That lucidity tends to cause the reality to break down as I draw conscious attention to the details that are off, but for a few brief minutes it feels a bit like Inception where you're consciously walking around in a space that you know isn't real but, at first, looks and feels very real. And then you try to levitate a rock off the ground because hey, it's your own mind, you should be able to do whatever you want, right? But instead it descends into a nightmare because your subconscious hates you.
