I'm british and thought the ambulance ride costs were a clout myth until my american cousins visited for the holidays and I realised you STILL HAVE TO PAY AMBULANCE FEES WITH INSURANCE. Then I saw this video and realised the US healthcare system can still get _worse_

Private health insurance is such a surreal concept to me back when I was learning about it in social studies. So, I live in a country where healthcare is a co-payment thing. The government will cover some of your bills(sometimes all if you fall into certain income brackets), and you just pay the rest, either out of pocket or via your employment's coverage. You can still buy insurance cause you know it's nice to have a safety net, but having to rely on it for everything is kinda absurd.

Great video, as a Health Insurance CS rep I would like to add some things. •Medicare and Medicaid aren't mutually exclusive, you can have both if you qualify for both, this is usually called a dual coverage. •There is a program called LIS AKA Extra Help administered by the SSA and can help you pay for your meds and plan's premium, you might end up paying nothing for both things depending on the level. •If you have an HMO plan, be careful with the IPAs (Independent Practice Association), these associations are obsessed with managing all of your healthcare and if your PCP is affiliated with one, they are going to refer you to other doctors affiliated with the IPA only. You can opt out of the IPA by simply changing your PCP but if you do so the IPA can reserve the right to keep all your medical records.

I’m back here yet again. I’ve lost my uncle recently to cancer, and my college shut down with a week’s notice last month. I’m actually going to a school in Maryland now.
