Strangely, I've just watched a (German) video about once-common cars which have disappeared off the face of the earth - they featured three such, viz. the Alfasud (for obvious reasons), the Peugeot 504 (apparently, they all went secondhand to Africa) and the Opel Rekord a.k.a. Vauxhall Carlton (they all went secondhand to Eastern Europe after the end of the Iron Curtain).

If its original Tony it's Pimento Red colour code 72, Signal Red was only available until 1971 👍

Thanks Tony for the drive, I recognised the car journey from Hurn over the Avon Causeway, upto Sopley then into Bransgore and Thorney Hill down into Burley, I know it well.

Best option could be to get the bumper re chromed if the metal itself is not pitted

Go Stainless on the bumpers Tony I got mine from EJ Ward who do a stainless brackets and fittings kit that sets them off really well.

@@ArryTheStag mine was the same. They were looking good but on close inspection there were deep pits into the steel, so I gave up and went stainless

Unfortunately if you live in north London by end of October this year you would have to pay 12.50 every time you drive that car even if your going for a test drive sad days.

The "e revolution" is a long way off. Gas cars are still being sold, and hybrids as well, so it will be DECADES before the need for gas will change. Plus, once people get $3000 electric bills, gas will seem like something to stay with.

1978 Stag ? They stopped making them in 1977, didn't they ?

Yes, production stopped in 1977 but cars were still registered into 1978 and, I believe, a few in 1979.

@@ToyKingWonder Not that obvious to many. People get all starry eyed about much newer cars like E39 & E34 M5s but they can still rot like mad.
