This is a seventeen minute long video of a drive from the Fairmont City limits and driving over Country Club Road through downtown Fairmont and around going past Fairmont University (Fairmont State) and Pierpont College until we end up traveling back on the road we entered on. Hope you enjoy the trip and I am sorry about the sometimes glare of the windshield. I would also like to thank the local Southern Rock band "BLACKHANDER" for allowing me to use their original music and songs. Special thanks to Shawn Marra for writing and co-writing the 3 songs you will hear. They can be found on FACEBOOK and also in my video collection on KZbin. Peace and happy watching!

@@mozone4761 Let me ask you this. Back in 1980 through 1983 I had a rock band that played the Fairmont area. Also Monongah and specifically The Meadowbrook Club and the Prime Time club. The band’s name was East Bound Ramp. Was wondering if you ever seen and heard us. You might have been too young. 😂✌🏼

My father grew up in Fairmont, 34 High Street. He was born in 1916. I visited in 2018, and the house still looked the same, but the short block wall on the street was missing. His father was a baker at the Palace restaurant.

Where i used to go to the movies at the Fairmont Theatre and how you would go downstairs to the bathroom, but uou wouldnt go alone because that place was incredibly creepy (natives know what i mean) God this place held so much magic when i was a kid. Born at Fairmont Gen., lived on Chamberlain Ave.and then outside of Monongah. Went to FSU. Downtown Fairmont looks so sad -- so much is gone -- Hartley's, Jones, Murphy's, McCrory's, Golden Brothers? -- so many others that I remembered as a child. Middletown Mall changed downtown and now that basically is gone as well. I still come back once or twice a year

Very Cool. I am living in Fairmont on Locust Ave (see 14:02). The white two-story house in that frame is no longer standing. It is now the front parking lot of my apt complex. It is interesting to see how the landscape has changed in the last 7 years. I had never been to the area prior to moving here in July 2019. I am very interested in its history and evolution. Do you have one about Monongah, WV? I spent alot of time there last summer & became fascinated with the mine disaster of 1906. Thank you.

I believe I have one showing Worthington and Idamay area. I used to play music in a rock band back in the early 80s and we played in a bar in Monongah called The Prime Time. I am not from Fairmont growing up as a child, lived in Marion county though and we went shopping, etc. in Fairmont. I remember when some of those empty building actually had things going on in them. I'm 50 now. while I don't really remember Fairmont being the booming area my Mom used to tell me about, I at least remember when it wasn't as dead as it is now. I kinda doubt things will get any better there. or at least in my lifetime anyway. I'm just glad I saw my opportunity (and took it) to get out of there. my advise to anyone there, if you have opportunity to get out of there too, take it while you can. and for anyone who has not been there, stay out of there.

It's a good idea to feed outdoor cats and stray ones. Give them food and water. People feed the birds. They should feed cats. Care for them and their survival. Also provide them a shelter, in the weather. Cat shelters. It is amazing people show compassion to stray dogs, birds, squirrels, but not dear cats. Outdoor cats deserve our help. With some food water and attention, their lives can be saved
