I F****** LOVE Tom Petty! he is incredibly talented, writes almost all his lyrics AND music AND sings and plays. So much more talent than many newer artists. This song is so beautiful and the video is so artisitic.

I love Tom Petty video's. While every one else was putting bands in a room with half naked women running about. Here he is with high concept art piece videos. Got love that.

Is it just me or does anyone else find this song a little eerie and haunting? It has always had that kind of quality to it, considering the lyrics. The video adds an even more ethereal feel to it.

Love this song---sends chills down my spine---coz,I met my filipina wife via dating site, hundreds of pics and profiles. We were to each other then JUST A FACE IN THE CROWD, then life became like, OUT OF A DREAM, I flew halfway arout the world to see her---OUT OF THE SKY---then she was---INTO MY HEART, AND WE WERE JUST, A FACE IN THE CROWD...We lived this song. Married 2 years 2 weeks from today. Thanks Tom, Love Mike & Andresa

i couldn't agree more. i feel like the rolling stones recieved more worldwide attention even though petty and the heartbreakers were more consistent. also, petty is so much more of a natural performer than jagger will ever be, no matter how hard he tries.

No problem! I have to say, I've loved all of the records he's made since 'Wildflowers'. I'm convinced the guy can't write a bad song! Oh yeah; After looking at the liner notes to 'Highway Companion' again, it seems Mike Campbell is there as well. I knew some of that lead work sounded too much like Mike to NOT be him...

I do have Full Moon Fever, and I absolutely buy the albums I enjoy. I don't steal the music I love because what good does that do for those who created it? I only use youtube at work. At home I have a nice setup with a wall of sound that would melt your face. Be well-

americans should be proud to have an artist like Tom Petty (among a few others who are now dead), because lately music in the USA sucks big time (especially all that rap and sweet pop with brainless teenagers. instead of bombing and sending the youth to war, teach them to Appreciate quality music, and some geography as well!!!

What I mean is, I had like 10 of his songs as favorites, and they all became unavailable in one day, which most likely means someone (in charge of his colelction) is rooting them out, and taking them off this site.

Yeah it is in a way. I always felt like it had an atmosphere of foreboding (look up the word if you're not sure what it means. LOL), like this person he's speaking to was thrown into his life by a tragedy. "Before all of this/Ever went down"
