I've heard many people describe this GREAT hobby and I believe you described it the best yet! P.s. I lived in Charleston S,C, for 5yrs "77-81" Mt. Pleasant S.C. to be exact! Absolutely love that area!

Russ lives in Moncks Corner. I like Charleston, they need more hobby shops though 😆. Thanx for the great comment.

Too bad about the RF signal loss, My bet its the radio to receiver mismatch causing the issue. I use either a NX8 or NX10 for 90% of my flying. Yes I am a spektrum guy LoL. By the way I was born In Winston Salem and had family there till 2005. I still have cousins there around Winston but most of my Uncles and Aunts have passed away. My mother and grandmother are buried there and I plan to visit there this spring perhaps in March on my way to Bam Jam.Perhaps we may get together and fly then?

Was that pilot or launcher error .but I never had a signal issue with my 72 mhz crystals only issue was the idiot who turned on his radio while I was flying I do have a issue at my park with my dx6e right by a tall flag pole where I lose signal for a few seconds .
@ChunkyC_RC2 жыл бұрын
I never had a problem either with 72. Except a time or two I forgot to pull up the antenna 😁. Thanks for the comment

The RF signal warnings are just referring to the telemetry data from the receiver back to the transmitter and not the signal from the transmitter to the plane. Spektrum transmitters have what they call "fly-by" telemetry, which means it only has enough range to get back to you when you fly past yourself. You can silence the alert by going to the sensors tab on the radio and checking "disable telemetry alarms." Also, pro tip: hold the plane with your left hand when you launch it. That way you have your thumb on the controls instead of the throttle. :)

Good advice👍. I ve been doing extensive reading and found the same thing you have mentioned. I have since turned off the radio telemetry alarms and ready for another "re-maiden". Thanks for the input dude! Happy flying

What was your favorite plane of the day? I love my Flite Test mini Master Corsair, but prefer flying my red MPD Commander.
@ChunkyC_RC2 жыл бұрын
For that day, it was my Bighorn. I imagine it may change when I get some flights on the Commander.
@userTJ397802 жыл бұрын
I use a Spektrum DX6. No real problems except a late in flight signal loss with an EDF jet that I attribute to a spent battery.

Strange field, why are your flight stations so far from the runway?
@ChunkyC_RC2 жыл бұрын
We usually use the grass between the pilot stations and the runway. Not really sure why it is, where it is. It's been that way since the early 80s

Do those radio master radios have issue all the time like this? Im torn between one of them or just buy a futaba for an extra $200. Also, i picked up the pitricic bros reference in there eh🤣
@ChunkyC_RC2 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna answer in 2 parts... 1. If you are planning to fly drones someday and you are into tinkering with your radio then RM may be for you. It's like the Linux of the transmitter world. Always updating firmware and trying to figure out lua scripts etc. 2. If your like me, and just wanna setup the model and go fly, then Futaba may be for you. Futaba is a time tested system and has been around longer than I've been doing RC. The build and quality between the 2 don't compare. If it was me, I'd take Futaba over RM anytime. If you can swing it, get a Futaba system that does the FASSTEST protocol. Those are backwards compat with the older Futaba protocols.
@ChunkyC_RC2 жыл бұрын
Also, I have found binding to be quirky at times. I have been binding receivers ever since spread spectrum came out and I have never had a problem with any Spektrum, JR, Futaba, FlySky, or my FrSky X20S Ethos system. The RM internal module just seems to be a bit finicky at times.

been in and out of the rc plane game for the last 43 years now 54 and i enjoy the electrics like you i grew up on the glow and 72 meg futaba . now the 2.4 and all of the rediculous faa non common sense rules and id crap will and are ruining the sport of rc unfortunantly but as far as the hobby advancing it has done so greatly especially with the fpv but i hate that you cant find as many stick build kits as you use to i really enjoyed the building also but it would have been great in the stick build days if they would have had SAFE and AS3X it would have saved a many great planes in the hands of beginning pilots

Good to hear from someone who's been in the game a while like I have. The FAA is a drag, but it was bound to happen one day. At least we have FRIA's. Thanx for commenting.

Good Day at the field. I have not updated my NX10 and plan on not doing it. I will try and come up to fly with you one weekend. I’ve got to get trailer done so I can travel to the close fields around me . Hope we meet at Nall if you come down, I live in Spartanburg about 20 minutes from Joe Nall event. Looks like a great field, and a Awesome story to you and it. Good luck on radio 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻👍🏻
