I was on an airline coming home and had a fallen soldier on our flight. We did not know we had one. The captain of the airline announced about 15 minutes before we landed we had a fallen soldier coming home and for us to remain seated while they took him off the plane. Not one word was spoken by anyone as we approached landing. The airline went towards the hangers where they were to take him. I was seated on that side and saw the honor guards remove the casket. I had tears rolling down my face. The gentleman seated next to me was crying too standing up singing “Amazing Grace.” Soon everyone was sing including the flight attendants. I never knew the name of the soldier, but I felt a need to pray for him and said a prayer for all to hear. Loosing a family member who served is certainly hard. How do I know? I am a sister of a fallen soldier, my brother, who served in Afghanistan.

Oh, were Afghanistan about to drone strike Houston or something? Must have missed when all of the middle east invaded the US during the last 60 years that they have been invaded by these disgusting monsters. And before you say 9/11, that was saudi arabia, you know, the country the US sells a shitload of weapons (to start more wars to kill innocent people and steal their natural resources). Where exactly is the honor in killing innocent people and stealing their resources to make yourself richer? Seems to me like the most evil behavior thinkable. The US deserves to be nuked a thousand times over. Every single US military person is a war criminal and if there was actually any justice in the universe, they would all put a bullet in their brain immidiately.

This reminds me of my father. He got shot 8 times on his mission. They said the bullet hit his face and heart. I was 2year old at the time. I don't know anything about that day when his body returns home. Wish i could have the chance to hear his voice again, cuz i don't have any memory about him. Edit: Thanks a lot for your positive comment. My father indeed a very brave man. The love for his family and his country is amazing. My mom told me, he carried my clothes on his last mission so he can remember me whenever he miss me. Edit: Well, this is to clear some misunderstanding. My father wasn't US soldier. And he died because he was protecting civillian on conflict area in my country. And, it wasn't in US. However, it still piss me off how some people is disrespecting fallen soldier and being rude to their family. It's such a shame

I’m a full grown 60 year old man. Not even an American. I tear up at the simplest, silliest sensitive things. A tv commercial, even a sad cartoon, and any sort of sad neglected suffering animal. It’s embarrassing, but it lets me know I have compassion. This brought me to tears and it is so heartwarming to see the departing passengers stand for this brave, sacrificing soldiers final return home. A beautiful show of respect. Wars should be fought by the cranky, old, greedy, corrupted men who start it, (who will never see the battlefield), not young boys just beginning their adulthood. But what I'm asking myself is why anyone would need to show respect to someone who fought in a conflict the US shouldn't even have been a part of in the first place? They're not fighting for anyone there. While there are missions that require combined action by NATO members or UN members, most US wars and conflicts were not necessary in the first place. You may say it's not the fault of the soldiers and you're right, it isn't, but that doesn't mean anyone has to pay them respect. It's their choice, it's not a defense war, it's not about defending allies, so why is there a need for respect? They didn't fight to protect the own country so... ?! This is a thought most Americans don't seem to be able to have, sadly. The active military and veteran culture makes people asking such questions get harassed and insulted. That is a problem.

He would ship put to Vietnam with my brother.they would serve in the same platoon for a few months ,then be separated. My brother would send the newspaper from where he was serving with the Mia’s and Kia’s ,he circled the name of his buddy the one our family had fallen in love with ,he was listed as a kia. My mother kept in touch with all my brothers buddies from boot camp,so she wrote to this boys mother ,what came in the mail was a packet of information about his funeral and the letter from his CO, I was 17 at the time ,I’m now 73 and I will never forget what the letter said, the officer told his mother what an excellent Marine he had been and his kind he was ,while on patrol once he picked up a small Vietnamese child while on patrol and carried them for several miles ,he was killed by a sniper while marching one day ,this us what I think of every single time I see one of our military personnel come home in a coffin ,may god bless each and every single person who is now serving and who have served our country.

@@plucas9324 Call them what you will. If you can't stomach the word "hero" then "the fallen" will do if it's said with respect. As far as I'm concerned they gave what Lincoln called "the last true measure of devotion". Have you? Have I? I learned many things in my 22yrs in the military, the most important being respect. It's amazing what so few can sacrifice and so many take for granted. The Vietnam era vets came home to a new kind of hell. Today, far too often it's inconvenience and apathy. Many people can't or won't be bothered to offer a moment of silence and just don't care and that's their right. There are many ways to serve your country, just as there are many ways to foul it.

The one thing that truly leaves me in awe, is this part of our American patriotism. Bless that soldier for their service. But it’s so heartbreaking by the amount of American-born people who hate on and spit at those who truly serve(d) to try and do good for our home and safety. We are at that point where soldiers who volunteered are shown less respect and sympathy than celebrities who do criminal acts. My parents are born in Vietnam, a poor, communist government that hates its own people so they lived through it all. However, they have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude to those who served when they moved to America for a better life. Imagine their shock when people burned flags freely, and rejecting to stand up to show respect. How cruel that we hate on our own people that volunteered to protect. As a minority born and living in Texas, I hope the U.S. can find it’s patriotism again.

Dino Ridgeway Why bring Trump into this? And why the harsh insults? I never once said I supported him and only stated what I’ve experienced and heard. You are just assuming things about my opinions. You might not have experienced it but I have, there are many Americans who actually blatantly hate American troops and I know just by me talking to people, not through media and propaganda. If anything, it’s the other way around. And the flag burning, yes, it’s uncommon, but I bring it up because it always baffles me, that someone would burn a flag so openly cause it’s very punishable where I’m from. Flag burning to promote your political arguments is just off to me, that’s just how I personally see it. My entire family are immigrants just like many other Americans, we are simply just thankful for a second chance in the U.S and worked hard to make a living and we, personally, show pride in it. Both my grandads served and died in the Viet. War, we are trying to move past that now. I’m just stating what I see about patriotism through my own experience. I totally cried. That was very honorable for everyone to do that. I send my condolences to the family/friends.

You don't really believe that do you? I'm not being disrespectful as these soldiers should not die for lie. The USA doesn't invade countries that threaten their freedom, they invade countries that have oil or natural resources they want. How was Iraq or Syria or Lybia going to threaten your freedom in the USA? These kids are dying for oil profits for companies that mainly avoid tax. It needs to stop. The USA spends trillions to make billions for oil companies all because politicians are being bribed.

I understand but most of this kids don’t know and they just join because they want to make a difference and to get somewhere in life, they are poor, and can’t afford college. I agree on what you said.

@@AnyoneCanSee I'm sorry but geopolitics isn't just "oil", there isn't oil in Syria, the US doesn't have control over the libyan oil. For each of this countries there is a multitude of reasons, and almost none of them are oil or natural resources (only Iraq).

There was a beautiful movie made about the exact protocol that must be followed to bring home a fallen soldier. Kevin Bacon (believe it or not) starred as the colonel who volunteered to bring the soldier home. It's called "Taking Chance." It is so worth a watch.

As someone who doesnt know of any family members dying in war, at least I haven’t met the ones who have because I’m sure I’ve had one die. I bless all who have lost a person close to them from war. And I thank them for their family’s service.

I always find these events poignant and sad. I guess as I get older I just think of this person as a kid. Hanging in with the buddies, playing in the sandbox with all the dreams in the world… The ultimate sacrifice isn’t just your body, it’s all those dreams that just are abandoned… Peace and love ❤
