A solemn moment at Houston IAH - a fallen soldier returns home 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 #memorialday 2019

I was on an airline coming home and had a fallen soldier on our flight. We did not know we had one. The captain of the airline announced about 15 minutes before we landed we had a fallen soldier coming home and for us to remain seated while they took him off the plane. Not one word was spoken by anyone as we approached landing. The airline went towards the hangers where they were to take him. I was seated on that side and saw the honor guards remove the casket. I had tears rolling down my face. The gentleman seated next to me was crying too standing up singing “Amazing Grace.” Soon everyone was sing including the flight attendants. I never knew the name of the soldier, but I felt a need to pray for him and said a prayer for all to hear. Loosing a family member who served is certainly hard. How do I know? I am a sister of a fallen soldier, my brother, who served in Afghanistan.

Must have missed when all of the middle east invaded the US during the last 60 years that they have been invaded by these disgusting monsters. And before you say 9/11, that was saudi arabia, you know, the country the US sells a shitload of weapons (to start more wars to kill innocent people and steal their natural resources). Where exactly is the honor in killing innocent people and stealing their resources to make yourself richer? Seems to me like the most evil behavior thinkable. The US deserves to be nuked a thousand times over. Every single US military person is a war criminal and if there was actually any justice in the universe, they would all put a bullet in their brain immidiately.

I’m a full grown 60 year old man. Not even an American. I tear up at the simplest, silliest sensitive things. A tv commercial, even a sad cartoon, and any sort of sad neglected suffering animal. It’s embarrassing, but it lets me know I have compassion. This brought me to tears and it is so heartwarming to see the departing passengers stand for this brave, sacrificing soldiers final return home. A beautiful show of respect. Wars should be fought by the cranky, old, greedy, corrupted men who start it, (who will never see the battlefield), not young boys just beginning their adulthood. Respect from 🇨🇦 and condolences to this 🇺🇸 soldier and his loved ones. 💜🙏

I don't know anything about that day when his body returns home. Wish i could have the chance to hear his voice again, cuz i don't have any memory about him. Edit: Thanks a lot for your positive comment. My father indeed a very brave man. The love for his family and his country is amazing. My mom told me, he carried my clothes on his last mission so he can remember me whenever he miss me. Edit: Well, this is to clear some misunderstanding. My father wasn't US soldier. I think it is ridiculous to be honest. Thus the view we have on the Military here is still negatively influenced by its past.

@@Vinicius-qz5op Fortunately for us Americans, we, for the most part, keep military and domestic life apart. Rare exceptions where the National Guard step in for peace keeping on the most unrestly nights. We respect our servicemen and women because we can't imagine what they go through on deployment. We wouldn't want to be there ourselves. Much happiness that the oppression has gotten lessened in Brazil and hopes your country prospers. Love from America.

But what I'm asking myself is why anyone would need to show respect to someone who fought in a conflict the US shouldn't even have been a part of in the first place? They're not fighting for anyone there. While there are missions that require combined action by NATO members or UN members, most US wars and conflicts were not necessary in the first place. You may say it's not the fault of the soldiers and you're right, it isn't, but that doesn't mean anyone has to pay them respect. It's their choice, it's not a defense war, it's not about defending allies, so why is there a need for respect? They didn't fight to protect the own country so... ?! This is a thought most Americans don't seem to be able to have, sadly. The active military and veteran culture makes people asking such questions get harassed and insulted. That is a problem.

Every time I see something like this I’m reminded of a 19 year old boy who would come home from Camp Pendleton on the weekends when they had liberty ,he was among many that did ,but there was something quite special about this quiet ,unassuming sweet boy . He would ship put to Vietnam with my brother.they would serve in the same platoon for a few months ,then be separated. My brother would send the newspaper from where he was serving with the Mia’s and Kia’s ,he circled the name of his buddy the one our family had fallen in love with ,he was listed as a kia. My mother kept in touch with all my brothers buddies from boot camp,so she wrote to this boys mother ,what came in the mail was a packet of information about his funeral and the letter from his CO, I was 17 at the time ,I’m now 73 and I will never forget what the letter said, the officer told his mother what an excellent Marine he had been and his kind he was ,while on patrol once he picked up a small Vietnamese child while on patrol and carried them for several miles ,he was killed by a sniper while marching one day ,this us what I think of every single time I see one of our military personnel come home in a coffin ,may god bless each and every single person who is now serving and who have served our country.

Wrecks&Tech Easy there. It’s not your place to decide who is and isn’t welcome in this country. It’s a free nation, and people are free to express their opinions so long as they don’t impede the freedoms of others. This person chooses to not call this soldier a hero, let him. You’ll never meet him in life, and likely will never interact with him again. Be the bigger man, respect this man’s opinion, even if they don’t align with yours, and go about your day.

@@plucas9324 Call them what you will. If you can't stomach the word "hero" then "the fallen" will do if it's said with respect. As far as I'm concerned they gave what Lincoln called "the last true measure of devotion". Have you? Have I? I learned many things in my 22yrs in the military, the most important being respect. It's amazing what so few can sacrifice and so many take for granted. The Vietnam era vets came home to a new kind of hell. Today, far too often it's inconvenience and apathy. Many people can't or won't be bothered to offer a moment of silence and just don't care and that's their right. There are many ways to serve your country, just as there are many ways to foul it.

Pakiboy London if I could report your inappropriate foul mouth I would! If you’re a citizen of the States, you’re welcome! The military is keeping you safe to express your horrible feelings! I always admired how patriotic Americans were. In these crazy times lately I see that changing. I sure hope you will find your way back. The way you honor (or honored, see above) your soldiers is to be envied. My dad was a soldier killed in a war for our independence from communism in the 90s in Eastern Europe. So when I see now what’s going on in the states I sure hope y’all will stay strong agains this bs narrative that’s being pushed on you that socialism and communism are great. trust me I know, THEY ARE NOT!!! We buried my dad very fast without the squad being allowed to fire their honoring guns because there was a siege on our town and we had to go hide from the bombings. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to say how I always loved this about America. The honor of soldiers and how when you meet one you’d tell them “thank you for your service”. That’s true patriotism

But luckily, there are still a few of us who kept our ground and stood by our soldiers instead of pushing them away. Thank you for respecting this part of our patriotism.
