@@BlackADHDcoach in my opinion, it's the changes that children go through, when the parents have a crisis in their relationship. It's affects children, too and they become different, a lot of times for the worst. That's why when she found her son in the forest, he was, constantly, crying. But in the end, the kid returned to be himself, when the couple sorted out the differences and moved on.

For the ones that don’t get it the first Nemo died in the forest when she was looking for him. That’s why at the end of the movie she seen his glove in the forest close to the road so I’m guessing he got hit by a car or something, and then when she looked back, the second Nemo didn’t disappear. That’s because she knew that her son had died. That’s why he acted different when she found him in the forest and said that you’re not my real mom, and that’s why he also had the other Steines necklace already in his hand.

I have a different theory, Nemo 1 was not hit by a car but instead taken in by Couple 2... Nemo 2 however who was left behind by Couple 1 in their house, later came out to look for either them or his real parents either from hunger or what-not, so in that process Nemo 2 died out of the watch of his parents. So couple 1 met Nemo 1 in couple 2's home, which means the survivors were.. Stein 1, Tate 2 and Nemo 1

Y'all have to remember they both took the wrong nemo home.. then the orig couple left nemo 2 at home and crossed the lake to the doppelgangers, the mom reunited with nemo 1 and he asked "why do I have two mommys?". so in the end.. mom 1 and dad 2, with nemo 1.. nemo 2 more than likely starved or something

So the Nemo we see at the beginning is dead. She found Nemo #2, which belonged to their doppelgänger counterparts. That’s why he was acting strange, crying all the time, and saying she wasn’t his real mom. So Memo #1 we see at the beginning died in the woods, because they didn’t understand they got the wrong Nemo. That’s why she found a glove in the road, as it belonged to Nemo 1. Now the movie itself of a metaphor on “killing” the parts of yourself you’re unhappy with, so you can move forward with your life, or you’ll be stuck in an endless loop. Same with Nemo. His parents bad marriage & hate for each other had changed him, and turned him into the sad & angry kid we saw later on. Tate killed his “old” self that was mean & cruel, and the wife killed off her “old” self, that was scorned & resentful.

There should be 6 people in that cabin after the meeting. The Nemos were obviously different people as Nemo 2 could tell who were his real parents and couple 1 came with a Nemo of their own.
