One hundred thousand Happy returns Nicola. One year younger again, not that age matter's when we all get to those middle years of our lives. Life is for living, we only get the one, so live it. Your finds wre interesting on this show. I have an estuary neaar me which certainly has medieval history through to today. There may be even earlier things to find as the Romans used the river, but even more exciting! there may be artifacts dating to 500 years before Stone Henge as our neolithic ancesters travelled up and down the coast. Happy Birthday Nicola. ( PS. I am feeling all inspired now, thanks to you and your friends. Wellies/chest waders are out now in preparation for the sping high and low tides next year.)

Hi Nic, happy birthday to you ❤ For once I do actually know something about something, namely the fork. I inherited a set of fish-serving cutlery (utensils?) which consisted of a large fish knife for dividing the whole fish from the spine, a fork like yours and a spoon, all with curvy edges and decorated. They were obviously prized as they were kept in a beautiful case lined with blue velvet. I am guessing that they were Edwardian or late Victorian. Have a lovely rest of your birthday, and thank you for spending some of it with us xx

To make money, some people are finding old metal things and bringing their finds to the scrap yard. Recycling and cleaning up the river in one simple step. Pan-yan pickle was a slight gentler, Pickelilli type mustard pickle, second, I too have a set of fish serving and eating tools, when I was a child my Mother used to haunt estate sales, and fish forks were just going out of fashion, so even quite high class ones could be bought for next to nothing. thirdly, the lady who said Skittles were fruit sweets, well they are in Britain too, and white plastic ones are bowling pins, but proper UK skittles are made of wood, come in sets of 9 and are part of a very popular game n the West of England. Happy Birthday, Nicola! We are dedicated watchers. And we especially liked this episode. When you were talking about the pub mug that you found and you showed the bit about Stanley and Polly Stone, we saw that they lived in Fox Point, Wisconsin which is where we live. We quickly called our daughter Beret who is the Manager of Digital Assets at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She told us about the Chipstone Foundation and that they do exhibit some of their collection from time to time at the museum. It's a small world isn't it?!
