Your teaching ability is extremely good. Thank you for these valuable lessons. There are So many musician good at playing but they are incapable of teaching in fact they are so good, they can't put themselves into beginners level . Can you also make video how to do chords with correct fingerings in two scales

Thanks, Susan, for demonstrating all of those. I will try to incorporate these into my daily practices when I practice a different key every day. I start with F on Sunday and go around the circle of 5ths, adding F# to Monday when I practice the key of C. I am not playing the left side (flats) of the circle of 5ths for now. I practice Major & Minor 8 finger scales, Major chord inversions, Diatonic Chords in the key and 5 note scales alternating different speeds for left and right hand. Adding the appropriate arpeggio for each day sounds like a good idea.

Hi Susan, for the LH arpeggio couldn’t you also use the 3 instead of the 4? In other words 5-3-2-1 -3-2-1 -2-3 -1-2-3-5 Would this fingering come down to personal preference?
@PianoRoadmap2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lawrence. Thanks for your question. You are instinctively right! Depending on what arpeggio you're playing, you can use either the 3rd or 4th finger in the LH. When practicing standard arpeggios, use the 4th finger for CM, cm, dm, ebm, em, FM, fm, GM, gm, am, and bm. Use the 3rd finger for DM, EM, F#M, AM, and BM. In pieces, depending on the context, I sometimes veer away from these standardized fingerings and use the 3rd and 4th interchangeably as I feel necessary. So again, you're correct! Sometimes it does come down to personal preferences, but only AFTER the "correct" standard fingerings are learned.

Great lesson Thank you. As a beginner I was confused why the arpeggios notes are 1,3 & 5 of the scale. Is this because this is the first C chord?
@PianoRoadmap2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the arpeggio is based on the chord that is the name of the key.

This is a very detrimental hand movement which can be named crawling; nobody plays arpeggios like that, they don't keep the thumb down while reaching next note simultaneously. Their hand jumps over by lifting the thumb. Watch some Jeff's tutorials on scales and arpeggios where he uses the gimble analogy. The wrists stay stationary and the fingers jumps over. I would use the analogy of cheeta's running with its feet in the air. This way of moving the wrist may even hurt beginners and will help very little on technique.
