the acting by Tom Cruise is just so engaging here . And the best part is that the way he mouthed the rant, the sheer despair and frustration is being felt and how much devastated Lt. Kaffee was at that point . He nails such roles where he plays a Lieutenant or a soldier..

@The Abcool I don't think he means it like that. For me Tom Cruise's prime was from mid 1980s to mid 2000s when he only used to do these unique dramas which showcased his acting talent. Now he only does action movies & only known for doing stunts. Still my favorite actor though & always will be.

@@hyperion4305 I'd say he's always had the action movie thing going since Top Gun in 1986, but I agree he takes far less risks than he used to. This movie WAS a risk for him. Going up against Jack Nicholson in a tense courthouse scene would have been jumped on by critics as a young pretender failing to dethrone a king if it went badly for Cruise, but he rose to the occasion, as he did a few years earlier with Rain Man.

I would argue that. I think he is one of the few actors, who has been in their prime for the entire 30 years of their career. infact, he is getting relevant every year, every year his movies break records and he gets even more famous. it's not just about making acclaimed classic movies, it's also about keeping your name relevant. which he is doing pretty well

Tom cruise had his best performance in Rain Man. And Dustin Hoffman. You cant tell me Rain Man is one if not THE most thought out, well directed film. By the end of Rain Man, as a viewer I felt emotionally connected to Charlie and His brother Raymond's relationship. You could visibly see the change in Tom Cruise's character Charlie play out through out the movie and dustin Hoffman portrayed an autistic character in the most remarkable way I've ever seen an actor do on screen.

I always liked Tom Cruise as an actor (not only as the Action star but as the dramatic actor that he is). This was one of his finest performances, in my opinion. Besides The Firm, The Color of Money, Collateral, Jerry Maguire, Rain Man, Mission Impossible 1 and Magnolia. He was at his absolute best during the early and mid 1990s.
