I know that you made this video about a year ago. I just wanted to let you know that I think you are very refreshing to watch. Your plants look absolutely beautiful! I agree, people can do what works for them, to me they need to stay in their own lane and what works for them works for them and what works for you, works for you. Please keep doing what you’re doing I loved watching you because you were not focused solely about yourself but the plants.❤️👍🌿

I have 1/4 of my collection in no drainage due to your influence. They are thriving. I moved both of my albos to no drainage (one in leca, the other in pon) and they are putting out new leaves. The root systems have exploded. It’s also been fun shopping for pretty glass vessels at the thrift store.

Your make-up is beautiful, Pudge is stunning as always. Your plants are incredible. No drainage rocks. I'm so happy I found your channel because I'm so sick of always hearing that every plant needs to have drainage. And it's nice to hear you talk about a common plant since you have such a large collection of very uncommon ones

The tortum that I bought isn't thriving either 🥲 after the stress it got from being shipped on a hot day, it broke off a lot of leaves, and the new leaves that grew from the auxiliary buds are so stunted they resemble a juvenile phil. narrow. It's since been outside and even just earlier I decided to take it out of its no drainage vessel and potted it into some outdoor pot with outdoor soil hoping that it starts getting vigorous from the change of conditions. Meanwhile I'm also scouting for another tortum

It was actually a good bit larger than the first leaf to come out of the top cut, which I had air layered!🤷

Clear glass vessels are used to see how much water is there and how your roots are doing. This is absolutely a excellent way to keep your plants. Even if the vessel isn’t clear this is totally acceptable. I have a few in decorative pots with no drainage holes and they are doing just as well if not better than my plants that are in pots with drainage hole. I just don’t over water them. Drainage holes are great for the over waterer that doesn’t have clear pots. If you are an over watering plant parent then pots with no drainage holes might not be right for you. As for everything to each their own. No need to tell someone what they should or shouldn’t do. It’s not out of our pockets and her plants are doing excellent! So don’t get your panties in a bunch! Lmao

Hello, your plants are beautiful!! What is the clear plastic you use for the lazy poles? I've been making poles and the only thing I've found is the Dollar Tree plastic cutting boards, lol, but they're not quite clear and makes it harder to see into the roots. Although it works, it's just not a nice clear plastic. Some options would be appreciated!! Thank you!

Hola!! Thank you for sharing!!! I had a question for you, how do you know which plants are heavy feeders? I’ve read it has to do with how fast the growth is and light intensity but how do you know that one specimen of philodendron needs more than another for example? Thank you!!!!!

Want to know the answer to this as well. So far from trial and error and advice I got, Plowmanii silver and philo Serpens are heavy feeders or require high nitrogen. But my philo sp Colombia Hated the Osmocote slow release and got lots of yellow spots as a result.

Hey Charmaine I got a quick question (if you ever see that comment lmao) do you have a video where you make your lazy poles and explain when, or better at which stage of plant growth, you decide to use a pole? I am still quite unsure when's the best time to use a moss pole on my philos and monsteras but since they're still growing well, it must be OK I guess?

Hi!! You can find the most recent version of the lazy pole in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqTSeaBtj6mAi6s And then I shortly feature a newer designed strap in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmHPmoJ6bblrntU To answer your question, it's honestly never too early to get any climbing plant on a pole. You'll notice more significant size growth once it has attached to a pole, as it also encourages more aerial roots to grow. So the earlier the better! But for me personally, I usually wait until the plant has grown enough that it has a nice stem I can work with. I don't really bother with really juvenile plants (mostly because I'm lazy haha).
@therealsassyama682

Thanks to both of you for your answers :D I guess it's time for my Melanochrysum to get poled, very looking forward to see that one size up 🌿 And yeah I can get that with juvenile plants, they do take some time to get bigger and it's really rewarding once they've grown but damn that needs patience I sometimes don't have lol

@@Ksnamaste I heard philos like to dry out (certain ones can fully dry out but don’t wait too long before watering). If you have moisture metre, Kaylee Ellen advised watering when it is a 3 or 2. Or when too few inches of soil is dry. I know it can be tricky - perhaps your plant is finickier than others.

I've heard aerial roots don't uptake nutrients as efficiently as the terrestrial roots of the plant, do you know if there is truth to this?
@unplantparenthood
@unplantparenthood 2 жыл бұрын
In my uneducated opinion I want to say this is false. Only because plants that are hemiepiphytic (which is basically anything that climbs) receives most of its nutrients through the aerial roots that are attached to the trees in the wild. I've seen many photos of mature specimens in the wild where the entire plant isn't even attached to the terrestrial roots anymore and are purely getting their nutrients and water via the aerial roots!
@joannanovara815
@joannanovara815 2 жыл бұрын
@@unplantparenthood makes sense for epiphytes for sure(orchids included)as they are structured to received their nutrients solely from aerial root system and some foliar. I dont don't *some* amount of nutrients are are absorbed and if it works for your aroids that's great!
