You can have something that has meaning to a team that makes them want to play harder, the point where it came disrespectful is when one of the coaches during pregame took the shovel and stabbed it into the mascots head that was painted on the 50 yard line. One of the northridge parents hit one of our players and was arrested for assault, one of the mothers from northridge took a yard marker and threw it at the kids while they were running off of the field. You don't go to another school and disrespect their field.

So Utica stealing the Northridge was somehow justice for what Utica saw as disrespectful. I don't know man. It seems like if you do something like what Utica did at the end, it throws out any moral high ground they had at that point. In other words, seems like both schools are at fault. LOL who cares it's a school I hated high school & didn't care who disrespect the school I went to my classmates & teammates was a different story though even though I didn't like most & hardly went to class. It's high school it's a field marker it's not a grave or human. It's a bloody football field. Is the shovel suppose to be less lethal then say a pitchfork or whatever they use for scooping hay to feed horses or something? I know I should know this I dated many equestrian horse riding cowgirls but can't recall. My school was a knight & we had some idiot in a knight costume but he clearly never had a mace or a sword & never ran around attacking the other teams picking it at the players especially at away games especially with such crappy records as apparently these two teams had this season.

This description is completely wrong. We have brought our shovel to every game this season and we will continue to do so. The shovel has “purpose” written all over it, meaning that every one of our players has a purpose on our team and purpose in the community. The shovel also represents that there is some things that we need to dig up in our minds and there is something’s that we need to bury and put behind. After we shook hands the Utica players took the shovel that represents our team from our sidelines. That is when one of our players ran after them and tried to get the shovel back. A fight broke out between players and coaches. Uticas players were hitting us and multiple of our parents as was one of uticas coach. One of uticas coaches was hitting our players and even swung at our athletic director, who was just trying to break up the fight. We then had to wait in the locker room until it was safe to go home. -Northridge player.
