You're one of the few film photog channels that I sub to that actually cuts thru all the BS. It does get really exhausting dealing with film youtubers trying really hard to keep selling stuff to me thru false advertisements (eg the digicam takes unlimited film photos trend) and also the whole defense of street photog when people need to actually be more considerate with it. I heard someone in local film community said that Fuji lose their access to silver somehow, I don't know whether it's true or not but if it's true it's mean they can't produce any kind of film anymore unless it's through third party. Also, I somehow agree with you that they only sell a line of digital camera with nostalgic look and feature but they only that to just one line of camera, I still don't understand why they killed off X-Pro lineup and all rangefinder style X mount cameras and left only X100 line for that particular style of camera.

Can't even tell you how many times we have driven through your town. All my wifes people are from just west of Norris Lake and we used to live in Western NC and took 25 all the way from Hot Springs through to Corbin. We both grew up in Southwest Ohio (pronounced Uh Hi Uh) and since nearly everyone there is from KY, TN or Wv guess what we all sound like? :-) Hard to believe that someone would be ignorant enough to comment on your accent. Keep on keepin on with this channel, yours is a breath of fresh air in this mess of too much theme music and special effects. Best of luck in all you do. John

Thanks so much! It is a little bit the lawyer thing. Most of my videos follow a pattern of how you write law school essays. It makes sure the videos have some structure. The other thing is I’m really not afraid to say stuff. I am a trial attorney, and have some of the biggest cases in the state. No reason to mince words. In the grand scheme of things this stuff doesn’t matter all that much. Thanks for watching!

I bought instax cameras for my kids. It’s a fun novelty but definitely super low quality and my least favorite film medium. Not to mention they kind of break sooner than later.

Great video. I love when people speak with accents. Southern or from other countries. I don't understand people trying to correct anyone on how they pronounce Nikon as "Nick-on" or "Niy-kon." Who gives a fuck. Did you get anything from the video or not? I certainly do. And yes, some content creaters speak in monotone. It can get difficult to get through a video with some people. But it is what it is. Again, great video.

I don’t want to get into it, cos a lot of people feel very passionately about it 😄, but it’s “Nick-on”. I personally treat it like a name. If that’s how the people that run the actual company pronounce it, that’s how I pronounce it.

I'm actually pretty happy with the quality of Instax film, just not the cameras. Thank God they finally made a new Mini camera that has actual features. Polaroid consistently makes great cameras but I don't like how muddy and unpredictable the film tends to be. I thoroughly agree that disposable film cameras don't have much of a place anymore. They made sense when film cameras cost as much as modern digital cameras, and when not everyone had a smartphone with a high quality camera. Nowadays there are too many point-and-shoots that can be had for $20-50 on eBay (or even new) to justify buying a one-time use camera.

Soon after I endeavored to start shooting on film I tried to seek out informative presenters on KZbin, I love your channel and your perspectives. Digicams are trash. What is "Street Photography" is it like being Paparazzi but to normal non-consenting people? I don't understand it and I dont think its very inspiring. I do take pictures of old trash though and I probably always will, I love how nature taking back it's stuff looks. Keep up the good fight and calling out bullsh!t, soomeone has to but I also like your film reviews. I think I bought a film stock based on your review.

i agree basically to most of the stuff, some more, some less, but man, the boringness of the videos, i feel that so much. i watch a lot of peeps on youtube that do videos about film photography, and sorry not sorry, i can't stand a video of 2 hours of just photographing with dead silence. and even for shorter videos, all calmly, soft music... heck, get some style and push more your persona, it's just the trick of changing a bit the rythm of your videos more than anything, don't get overhyped as the Mr. McKinnon because that's over the top for me and i can't stand it lol. but overall, great video with good quotes, and as an italian that hears multiple different accents, go as you like, accents, dialects all have to be preserved and be proud of.

1. Instant film is overhyped and overpriced and takes absolutely know photography skill at all other than holding the camera still. 2. Fujifilm abandoned the filmmaking community in 2013 (reference their last CEO bluntly stating film photography was irrelevant). 3. I love Kentucky. My mother was from Liberty (Casey County) and I made a short 16mm film on my visit to Danville and Liberty). Your accent reminds me of my family down there who are down to Earth just good people and the mainstream media for years has stigmatized Southern folks unfairly as inferior. Dont change the accent. 4. I know EXACTLY which film influencers you talk about as low energy not to name names *cough grainydays* but yeah I dont get the whole jaded attitude projection either? Its like dude you should feel excited and privileged you get to shoot film in the "digital era. AND heres my issue with the film photographer "influencers" and they continue to ignore this point but they refuse to acknoledge the fact that shooting on film is about OWNERSHIP of images i.e through hard copy archiving. Thats the BIG reason I shoot film. Its not just for the "look" or it "slows me down. "Its the fact I have physical, tangible 4K hard copy image that will last over 100 years. 5. I wont even dignify the "digicam" thing whatever that is but its most definitly not celluloid but you share the same frustration with Digicams that I share with those "film emulators" that infect my Instagram news feed.

It's so weird to me that people get anal about the English pronunciation of nikon, because nick-on isn't even that much more accurate to how it's said in Japanese... it'd be something more like knee-cone than nick-on. Everyone wants an unearned sense of superiority though, so people will argue in spite of the company itself being ok with both common English-language pronunciations.

Stoked to see your vid about street photography. Consent seems to be the last thing on any street photographer’s mind. Also, about the accent thing. In one of the episodes of the amazing podcast Dolly Parton’s America, they talk about how many southern people train their accent out of their voices because everyone makes it seem like if you have a Southern Accent you’re dumb. And it broke my heart. So I asked my southern wife if she did that. And my heart got broken again cause she totally had.
