I am a volunteer firefighter. I can sit here and say that i am no better of a person than the guy or girl next to me. I am just another average joe who has a job that he has to go to in order to make ends meet. I hate when people try to say that all firefighters are arrogant and cocky.

We have more members outside of immediate family doing it. Once one family member does it, it just keeps running down. May god bless you.

so happy to have the firemen we do, its a big job, stressful for the firemen even knowing they have the training. yes we all have stressful jobs but that's one job I wouldn't want is a firemen. its also hard for the fire fighters love ones back home waiting and praying that everyone is going to be ok. also waiting at home for there love ones to get back home and not get a call or a knock at the door. thanks so much to all the fire men out there in this world for doing a great job.

Almost happened to me the other week. Barn fire, multiple departments en route. I live 2-3 jurisdictions away from my department. En route to the fire house, another firefighter who was enroute to the next fire house over pulled out in front of me as i was doing 80. Talk about a rush, the bad kind. Could have been the end of both of us, but that is the job we signed on for. Others first, self last.

I will say something. This video is so true and I teared up while watching this because it just reminds me how it all is. Yes I am a Firefighter. 20 y/o. I admit it's hard work and it is definitely not easy. I know Firefighters these days are underappreciated, I am not paid, I am Volunteer but even if I was paid for it, I wouldn't be in for the money. I joined because my step dad is into it. I joined because I wanted to help people, save life's, prove to myself I could be a better person then I could ever be to myself. My first house fire I was told NOW is my time to prove how brave I am, NOW is the time to show I have courage and I did that very day, 12 hours went by that day just working on that burning house. I felt great about my self, yes I was tired and extremely exhausted but I kept going because I knew I was helping, improving, showing the community there's hope. My point is yes it's a hard job and dangerous, i'm not better then anybody else, I still consider myself equal, I just do it all because the feeling of saving a life is the best feeling in the world, and some like to take that for granted.

The difference between us firemen is that we don't do it for the pay or for the praise. We don't do it for any reason except to help our fellow man. We do it because it is in our hearts, our minds, and our souls. Thank you so much for the tribute video! I haven't seen a video on KZbin that explains it as perfectly.

My amazing friend and boyfriend is a firefighter. We pray the firefighters prayer every time that he gets paged... After he leave and tells me that he loves me and that he'll be ok and not to worry I always go and cry and pray... Being a firefighter takes a lot of bravery and courage. Love and support our firefighters!

With all due respect, how in the hell do you have time to pray a whole prayer when the tones drop? I barely get enough time to say "I love you be safe" before he's out the door. No reason to cry....know your man is strong and trains hard and know his brothers at the fire hall do, too, and have his back.

I was a medic in the military. I got out and worked EMS in an ambulance , and part-timed as an EMT at an ER to get more "hands-on' experience. Then I joined a volunteer department. Then I got hired by that department. Then I had friends for the rest of my life, who understood when we looked at each other and smiled, shook our heads in disbelief, or nodded in agreement. Greatest job ever. It takes a while.

My idea is there are some things that men are better at, like making roofs into Swiss cheese to ventilate a burning attic, but there are some things women are better at, like holding the hand of a little girl in an ambulance on the way to the hospital after her mom was killed by a drunk driver. Firefighting and paramedicine have pros for men and women, but if you want to be a firefighter, go be the best female firefighter there is and prove your father wrong.

Having a father as a volunteer fireman is amazing. All the respect he gets around my town is incredible. He's saved many, lost some, and put out any fire that endangers our town or a life. Quite honestly someone with a helmet defending a football should make less then someone with a helmet defending other's property. Who cares what MrMarijuana says. His name shows that he's not the brightest bulb on the planet. What matters is that firefighters save lives every day, and someday, it might be his.

You know guys just because people talk trash on the Internet shouldn't get you pissed off, I mean yeah its hard what we do and people who don't do it will never know the emotions you have when you have to call mom and dad to come to a wreck and identify the body of their teenage child or trying desperately to pump life back into someone for an hour straight only to find out they didn't make it, but in the end when it comes down to it, it don't matter who they are you should do what you signed up to do and save that persons life.

Even though most of the personnel have EMT, MFR, or Paramedic licences, and we have an ambulance at the station, there is always, ALWAYS the county ambulance(s) that is on scene of any call, from over 10 miles away, only a minute or two after we arrive. It's a totally new ballgame when you're crawling on your hands & knees with 75+ lbs extra on you into a building filled with fire and smoke searching for any survivors. Firefighting isn't just about water hoses and fire trucks. Remember that.

My dad has been a volunteer firefighter for as long as I have been alive. I can't count the number of times that I have heard his pager go off and wondered, what happened? I also can't count the number of times that we have been out grocery shopping or at a school event and my dad's pager has gone off. Volunteer firefighters AND their families sacrifice SO much for you, thank you to all volunteers!

I've watched this video so many times over the past couple of weeks...sometimes after a very emotionally tramatizing call it feels like I can't press on anymore.. Then I watch this video and I realise why I put my bunkers on each time the tones drop at the station. God bless you brothers and sisters. Shout out from Montana to the firefighters nationwide... stay safe.

i'm a female volunteer firefighter, and i absolutely love what i do. i like helping my community out any way that i can. when the tone drops, especially for a car accident or structure fire, i get an adrenaline rush, and i wanna get there quick to help because you never know who's hurt or trapped, and i wanna make sure the patient is taken care of. i like being a role model for people, and the fire dept is very important in my life. i love it, i cant say that enough. god bless ALL firefighters !

It's not just about how dangerous is this job, it's about how brave the Firefighters are and they got to be on work even for 2 days straight if it's necessary!! And you see a lot of hard things (deaths, crying people, etc.). Respect to all Firefighters from Slovenia ;)

My husband was a firefighter for 30 years & retired as a Bat. Chief. We are proud to say that our town in AR. of over 20,000 is a Class 1,Accredited Department. We have been very lucky by the Grace of God that we have not lost any firefighters on duty. Just like any department they don't pay them what there worth. I'm proud of every firefighter in this Nation that puts their life on the line every day you are all SPECIAL people & GOD put you here for a reason. God Bless you all & Keep Safe!!!!!

Great work putting this together. Everything on the civilian side is making this job worse. Preventing us from getting to calls, getting inside buildings because they want to carry guns, have multiple things into one outlet on at once and never turn it off causing more fires. It’s unbelievable what this society has come to, yet we still put up with it, go out there everyday, and battle the blazes; with very little appreciation.

Last night San Antonio Firefighter Scott Deem, a six-year veteran of the fire department, was killed in the line of duty. Rest in Peace Warrior. Firefighter Brad Phipps suffered serious burn injuries and was listed in critical but stable condition at San Antonio Military Medical Center. Firefighter Robert Vasquez was transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injures. My most heartfelt prayers go out to the men and women of the SAFD, and to the friends and family affected by this tragedy.

i am a volunteer fire fighter in Charlestown RI and i have been for the last three years. i have helped many people in times of crisis. i have gotten ridicule for being a volunteer fire fighter and i have gotten praise. i appreciate the support for those who give it and i petty those who can show the gratitude that is due for saving there lives. but id do it again regardless because i take pride in saving lives and property so that people can enjoy another day of life.

People who have never touched our boots are quick to say "if you cry because of your job, then you shouldn't have it, cause you can't handle it" but when I ask them to sign up for a ride along, they go back home the day after their ride along and change their minds, they cry themselves to sleep and finally understand. To all of my brothers and sisters in bunker gear, in a blue/black uniform or in camo and overseas or on a base, I love you all, keep doing great things and try to stay safe, I hate seeing another one of us are gone

So glad there's someone out there who's appreciative of the services we provide. I myself am a volunteer. And many people think that it's easy or a laid back job. Well guess what? They're wrong I had to do a research paper on stress for a health class I took. I included stressful jobs. Firefighting ranked as the #2 most stressful job. I've seen five guys injured in a scene that lasted and hour and they all had to receive first aid. It aint easy so if you can't handle stress don't do this job.

I know, I am a Fire Fighter's Daughter, Lt.Frank Michalek who served for 28 1/2 yrs in Detroit with his best friend, now my dear friend, Retired Fire Chief Thomas A. Magro who watched me grow up. I am so proud of all of you, my words are speechless, your job is thankless, I know! My Dad raised me w/out my mom who didn't want to be married to a Fireman anymore, & left us. My Dad passed away in upper Mi, on Nov 16, 1990, found at his blind, I keep him alive in my heart everyday. I stay close w/Tom

I like this video. The only downside of it is that you put the words right in there and you can barely see it because of the background. But I appreciate your doing this video for the firefighters. I know a few firefighters and they are incredible. I tried on the equipment that they use and I can't believe that they use all that heavy gear on top of carrying the hose and other stuff. I even have a lot of friends who were active military members and the stuff that they put on. Damn. 90 lbs on your back and whatever else you have to carry with you on top of having to run 5 miles from here to there. I salute everyone of you

I've been a volunteer for about a year now and I'm starting to realize how cynical people can be when it comes to any FD, payed or volunteer. But, personally it has been well worth it. When a mother thanks you for saving her baby because she couldn't it shows you what you're here for and why you do what you do.
