The firefighter song was written and is performed by Paul Cummings. Paul has been in the fire service for nearly 10 years and wrote this song as a tribute, to all of the brother and sister firefighters for the sacrifices they all make.

I am a volunteer fire fighter and this song hit me right in the heart. I don't care about money and don't want money for what I do. My payment is knowing that I helped someone in their time of need or that I saved someone's life. I just want to take the time to say thank you to all of the first responders out there and that at any point in time I would give my life to save another's weather it be a first responder or someone in need of the first responder family

My father was a volunteer firefighter for 37yrs and he didn't want any money he loved his job as a firefighter dad told me when I was 6 yrs old its not about the money it's about the lives that are saved and helping your neighbors and just being there. 3 years ago a ceiling fell on my dad and knocked him out he almost died now every time I hear the tones go off I turn on my scanner and pray until I hear his truck pull back in drive or hear them say "heading back station now" my uncle is also a firefighter they both missed my 12 year old birthday party to go fight a forest fire I am so thankful and u have a future firefighter now

Firefighter Brad Phipps suffered serious burn injuries and was listed in critical but stable condition at San Antonio Military Medical Center. A solution I wish would work for the rescue 1288 situation would be making it volunteer/cross staffed, but volunteers still get paid a little in our county, so im not sure how that would work out. Im actually going to try to join highview as a JRFF soon (I want to be in multiple programs. more training=more "fun" and experience). My uncle was on the our department for 23 years. He passed away in February from cancer. Thank you Paul for a wonderful tribute to firefighters. My Dad was a volunteer for over 50yrs. He saved a brother firefighter when a floor collapsed. This song is truly touching. My father is a firefighter and it can definitely be scary. You never know if you'll ever see them again. These men and women who risk their lives with every fire, never get enough credit and it's so sad. You never know how big or bad the fire is going to be. These men and women are true heros!!
