The Time/tempo toolbar plus the fact you can switch to beats and measure is indeed huge for those who edit music. Thank you for all the efforts you put into this. This is very appreciated Sir. I've learned a bunch from your vids already. Keep'em coming please 👏👏👏

The "extracted various libraries from within Audacity" is actually the biggest part of this release. Basically, we're currently refactoring Audacity by breaking apart a huge chunk of interwoven code (the audacity exe) into many smaller bits that just do one thing (on Windows, these are dll files) and also make functionality independent of the UI. Audacity 3.0 had 10 of these libraries, Audacity 3.2 had 62, Audacity 3.3 has 87. You can see some graphs of the dependencies in PR #4407 (All libraries). Unfortunately, a refactor means that, as far as users are concerned, nothing changed; it's all "under the hood". It also is the reason why we're comparatively quiet about this release.

Thanks a lot Mike. I just found you today, and within about 5 minutes of listening, you had already helped me find/solve my problem. Thanks. I can tell you're good at what you do, and thanks for the upbeat style.👏

Great overview. Regarding saving effects chains, the beat way, as far as I can tell, is through macros.

I'm using Audacity 3.2.5, (portable). I tried 3.3.0 but most of my third-party plugins wouldn't work with it.

Im a DJ and I done an 80 min mix on Serato DJ Pro and I'm trying to figure out how to track the mix on Audacity. Do you have a video or can you show me how I can track my mixes on Audacity that I made on Serato DJ Pro so I can put them on CD?

It is a hassle not ot be able to do a preset string for effects! I do several auditions and save them as individual files and having to reset these every 15 minutes is a pain. I honestly, don't bother anymore after a few rounds and go back to destructive editing. Still easier to follow and understand than Reaper.

Always SUPER informative.... thank you so much... I'm curious.. besides saving the chain of effects, what is your wish list for future updates???

Thank you D.R. Functionally, Audacity crashes occasionally when I'm editing a track that has realtime effects active on it. Does that happen to you? Keeping the effects disabled while content editing works but there's either a bug or something's up with my system and Audacity. Aesthetically, I'd really like to see the UI get an overhaul and get away from the Windows 95 look and feel. I know we can change up the color scheme but even those are edgy. Audition and Reaper are more visually soothing (as are others) and as one who can sit in front of a screen for hours, getting a softer interface that's more inviting would be huge. I'd also like to see larger meter bars. I love what Audition does with theirs. Audacity's made huge strides in the last couple of years and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I don't really get why one would use Audacity over DAWs like Reaper or even Cakewalk. Reaper is essentially free (by just having to wait 5 seconds) and lets you customize EVERYTHING. Plus the community is absolutely amazing with own scripts, themes etc.

Well, this channel is called Learn Audacity, not Learn Reaper, so the topic is Audacity. I use Reaper too, along with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and in the past, Cakewalk. I've found that Audacity will do some things better than those and vis-versa. I paid for my version of Reaper and I hope you did too.

@@LearnAudacity and what things does it do better? Honest question because I simply cannot see a reason to use it over something as Reaper. And yes, I have the enterprise license for Reaper.
@daviHuggMonster Жыл бұрын
for a free software its amazing but these days you get much more with cakewalk (free too) the development is pretty slow and many features are in free DAWs. Even paid like reaper (60bucks) that is way ahead of audacity. Sad in some way.
