A Fishing Trip to Lake Taupo, New Zealand - Catch, Clean, Cook!

Rumor has it that the trout in New Zealand are some of the biggest and best tasting in the world so naturally, while I was there, I had to see for myself.
Long story short, the rumors were correct! Even though Cyclone Gabrielle had just blown through in February 2023 and basically flooded the rivers and streams making many of them too murky and high to fish, we weren't going to miss an opportunity to catching a big NZ trout. So my son and I headed to the lakes, Lake Taupo to be exact, because it hadn't been affected by the storm and we knew it was still holding some big fish.

Sweet! One of my favourite memories of childhood is getting trout from Taupo, then giving it out to family smoked. Great stuff!
