Business Insider spoke to Roger Frampton, a movement coach and author of " The Flexible Body".
Frampton explained how you can do an effective body-weight exercise at home using furniture or other surfaces.
He added that stretching and regaining your mobility shouldn't be limited to the gym.
"I look around my house, I see my sofa; for me, that's like parallel bars. I see a chair; what balances can I do on a chair? Can I stretch my legs on a chair? I look around the house, I go into the kitchen and I see all these different heights.
So the way I'm viewing things around the house is I'm going: "How can I use this?" Because the reason is, the number one tool for training is your body. That's all you really need."

What he said at the end really stood out to me Like to me, it’s the amount of time that it takes when you divide your workout into training mode and life mode that makes me so unmotivated to work out.

I believe exersizing at home is amazing however it get to a point where your body gets used it and you don't make anymore progress plus working out your legs is hard at home so this is why gym is needed.

Then you must be an olympic gymnast then? At what point does your body get used to a Planche, Handstand, Front lever.. come on man, you just need to know the steps to progress it :)

For everyone shouting BS. Lets take a second to listen.... cause it doesn't mean we cant still learn from what he's saying... e.g. still go to the gym (esp if your aim is bulking an getting bigger than with body workouts), but also try and look at what around your home can we use and look at differently as tools to work out.... cause what happens is a lot of people if for one reason or another they have to miss gym and cant make it wont do anything till they finally get back to the gym.... so whether you agree with him or not he still has valid points that we can adapt into our lives and our mentality of separating training mode and life

He's not saying that. He's just showing off his personal balancing skills and saying that's like the gym. This is garbage.

I think Gym offers more than just the physique. As someone who spend around 6-7 years of his life after school with ZERO friends, with weight up and confidence plummeted down, I joined a 24 hour gym and used to go workout alone at 2 or 3 am at night coz I was so conscious. I grew the confidence to slowly shift the hour to early morning, then daytime and eventually in the rush hour. Made ton of friends, dated a girl who I wouldn't;t even dream of making eye contact with when I joined. After 3 years I still sometimes go at 2 or 3 am to work out in low intensity steady state as a form of meditation. It's a temple to me. That being said, what the guy is saying with respect to just physical fitness and not all these other aspects, the advice is pure gold. And sorry for the speech I just think a lot of people are in my position and are a bit iffy about joining the gym and may find this a good excuse to avoid joining. Please do. It will change your life.

15' every day = almost 2 h per week, every week of the year = 104 h per year. No tools, just on ur back, on a carpet. Do it and feel the aches just from that... So many people can't do it because it's too late.

You can't do optimal leg work at home unless you have a squat rack. Bodyweight leg exercises are just not good enough.

this is the nonsense bro science... optimal doesn't mean to get beefy bulky quads and squat 3x your bodyweight(u just get brainwashed by broscience).. once u can do 20reps goodform pistol, even a jumping pistol... u get a very2 well develop legs... oh ofcourse if u wanna get jay cutler quads... go and have a squat rack..

Braxant try single leg squat 3 x 20 reps 3 to 5 times at week, they'll grow, the down side is its faster to do barbell squats. In house you can use a barbell to increase overload, train slower o add a jump to movements (bulgarian squat, single leg squat, lunges, sissy squat, hip trust, etc)

Hassan Kamal for freerunning/parkour( or other athletic sports) this is very true. You'll only get worse by using weights, not much flexibility and too much heavy dense muscles isn't useful either

He is right. You don't need the gym. You may need it if you are going to be a martial artist or a weightlifter. Otherwise, for being healthy and strong in general, your body is enough.
