You guys know how I feel about in-flight skincare routines...But what about flight attendants? What's the best way to care for your skin when you're on a plane almost every day? I get this question a lot, so I thought it would be interesting to react to a flight attendants skincare routine and see what products she uses before and after flights. Enjoy!

OMG I THINK I JUST DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN 🤭❤️ thank you for reviewing me, I have also changed things up since like no skin brush everyday, spf 50 with a tint and you're so right editing was a little off, splitting up skin, makeup, and hair routines separately so at night I wash, tone and then use a mask and seal with my night cream I don't shower it off, I shower before skincare lol and I also don't use makeup wipes anymore

Just a note about what you said about SPF and the ozone layer.. The ozone layer is in the stratosphere, which is the layer of the atmosphere above where we live and where we fly our planes (i.e. the troposphere), so you still have the ozone layer protecting you when you're flying...

THANK YOU for referencing the rebound hyperpigmentation darker skinned people can experience with glycolic acid. I'm in a skincare group and the pitchforks come out when I reference how careful we need to be with glycolic acid and it's concentrations.

What percentage should we use?
@hshel2063
@hshel2063 4 жыл бұрын
@@user-bj1ez7wr7n nothing stronger than 15% unless it's an actual spa treatment and that's only on a bi weekly basis. Lactic and mandelic acids are AHAs that are gentler and less likely to cause rebound hyperpigmentation for darker skin. Still be mindful of the concentration there. 10% is a good percentage for gentler AHA exfoliants

She was definitely rinsing the product out of her hair. Curly hair is very different than straight hair, especially 3a+. You have a lot of product in your day to keep the curls defined. She was probably careful to not get her face in the water. I've tried this before too and it's hard and maybe not ideal, but she did not take off all the product.

Hi, I just wanna point out that airplanes do NOT go above the ozone layer. They go very close beneath it, yes, but you’re still being protected from UV rays when on the plane; just not as much as if you were on the ground protected by clouds. It’s not completely “open” as you say, but still pretty harmful. Bottomline is, if you’re going on a plane, no matter the length of the flight or the time of day of the flight, you should always be applying and reapplying sunscreen! 😊

As a flight attendant I agree you definitely need to adjust your skin care in the air. It is so dry, recycled and just unforgiving on your skin. I amp up my hydration big time on flights even though I have combo to normal skin these days - the older I am the dryer my skin is getting oh what joy. I really love snow mushroom with hyaluronic acid serums, vit C with resveratrol serum. I then mix a honey serum with a EA ceramide serum capsule. I then apply eye cream and then a ceramide moisturiser. Before I apply the moisturiser I add just a drop of pure glycerin to boost it up. Then I use my all mineral sunscreen, min spf50 full spectrum, I try to use a long wear, water resistant variety. After a few minutes I then apply a hydrating primer with spf in it. I know layering spf does not increase the spf, my aim is more to try and get a more even layer of protection. Then I apply my make up. When I get to my bed for the night I love a sheet mask but as Susan said I use my moisturiser after the sheet mask to seal it all in. Lots o layers I know but once you get a routine you can speed through it and the pay off is happier skin happier you. Happy flying all ✈️

If the windows are closed and you are in side the plane, why do you need spf?
@viviankoolen3434
@viviankoolen3434 4 жыл бұрын
Tiffany Vu because the windows don’t block all the UV rays! They block the UV-B (burning) rays, but not the UV-A (aging) rays. So basically, your skin won’t burn but the UV-A rays still do a lot of damage to your skin, which is why you need to protect it :)
@pmoo1971

It sounds intriguing for consumers. Even though most people don’t know the full deal on why spf is so great and how to properly get all of the benefits, literally everyone knows that spf protects the skin to some degree. By only having spf 20 or less companies can save money on ingredients but still gain in sales.

Sal Bolton Ugh that’s awful! Fear of that happening is why, even though Susan recommends it, I don’t double-cleanse. Although I personally don’t have it, I have a family history of psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions, so I’m afraid of triggering it in myself. Plus I rarely wear makeup so I don’t think a double cleanse is really necessary for me.

The reason it is so important stick to your skincare routine morning and night is because you're not getting the most benefits out of the products if you don't apply twice daily. Certain ingredients such as certain peptides and acids are only effective for 12 hours. If you don't apply am and pm then you're really not giving your skin a fair shot at achieving the results you want. As a licensed esthetician, I recommend that everyone educate themselves properly before giving people false information.

Very insightful to watch Arnesah's video and then yours. I'm also Cabin Crew (Indian) but with DRY/NORMAL skin. Often I cheat and skip a really good skincare routine because I'm exhausted after all my flights, but now at 40+yrs, I really need to up my game again......I'd be super intrigued to know what are my essential products....

So glad you did this one as I am a flight attendant. The hardest part for me is worrying about reapplying SPF on the plane. I always wear it before a flight (thanks to you!) but it's during the day flights that I worry about it. Thanks for all the tips!

Hi Susan!!! Can you do a video on how to add in new products into your skincare routine?? Especially serums?? I just recently bought a few new kbeauty skincare stuff and I’m just wondering if I’m adding it all into my routine right! I’m trying to add one or two slowly at a time so my skin can get used to it! Thank you so much for these videos. I feel like I’ve learned so much ever since I started watching your videos!! ❤️❤️

Aaaah!!! Thank you! thank you for putting this very honest review! I've been a flight attendant for a very long time and I also noticed that many of these younger "skincare savvy" flight attendants, I'm looking at you younger millennials lol They have a shitload of skincare and a shitload of skin dilemmas as well, lol. I only have four things in my bag, my Kiehls calendula toner to wash my face in the morning, CERAVE moisturizer, mineral sunscreen spf 45, and a concealer. Oh that Mario Badescu spray fragrant spray, I do use it but as an air freshener in the lavatory, lol Arnesah got an amazing young skin and she don't need all these nonsense skincare on flight.

HI Susan! thanks for this video! i have a similar skin type as Her in the video. Combo skin with slight dehydration skin. And i always want and care bout your knowledge. And so I think,hmm why I am not trying the suggested routine in the video. Then I started to do the Work Routine. first, because i want to bring back the hydration back into my skin! Turn out, its not difficult at all, cause i have all the similar use of products!! i always buy but ended up messing the order of using! All i can say is Thankyou! Now i have a simpler routine! and its work well!!! I think in the past, I over do it. With the mindset evrtg NOW and More is More. Now, my skin looking healthy and happy!!! yay!

As a flight attendant I absolutely loved watching this!! I thought I was the most extra woman on the planet having "im on airplanes today" vs "im not on airplanes today" routines, but what you said is so true! I will use the SF jetlag mask under my makeup at work, and then switch to a light gel moisturizer on my days off...it's crazy how much our skin needs can differ. Thank you so much for giving crew an incredible video to refer to!

They did a "how it's made" on glow recipe items and apparently the watermelon smell is because they use actual watermelons in the recipe. I don't know if they add fragrance on top of that but yeah... apparently they use avocados in their avocado range too.

The best sunscreen that I have ever used in the air or on the ground is La Roche-Posay Anthelios melt-in sunscreen milk SPF 60. They have a sunscreen for all skin types and the one I use doubles as my moisturizer. They have amazing products at reasonable prices and they are carried at Ulta.

Love this video, a plan with the reasoning 😍 - specially bec whenever I fly I can easily incorporate a lot of the logic on layering and destressing my skin even though for me it’s far less frequent. I just wanted to ask why u didn’t mention a retionol product - would love to understand your thoughts on that. Thanks

Although the SPF number is important, the point is how many times the SPF is applied during the day.🤔
@annakis2795

that's just not true. spf 15 filters out about 93% of UVB radiation, spf 30 filters out 96% and spf 50 98%. and if we want to know how much of UVA radiation gets filtered out, we need to know the ppd number of the sunscreen. window glass blocks about 60% of UVB radiation, and allows almost all UVA radiation through. so that's totally not the same :D
