I fished this creek with the legendary Joe Humphreys' in the late 90's and it is truly a difficult stream to fish! Trout educated by some of the best fly fisherman in the world! Kiddos to you all for catching as many as you did (most consider 1-2 trout brought to net to be a great accomplishment on Slate Run.) One of you (don't know your names), has a slow, delicate, unconventional, however beautiful cast, and great line management with your mending. You remind me of myself and my friends in a time long past. Thank you for invoking such wonderful memories! A word of advice from an old fly fisherman...film everything and then write it down! The memories fade slowly, but time flows by as fast as a fall day. The other day I was 22 and fishing with my best friend's. I blinked my eyes and I'm 64 and I'm alone on the stream with my memories...

Thanks for watching and the life advice. It is awesome you were able to fish Slate with Joe. I’ve heard presentations by him but never had the opportunity to fish with him. If you ever want to hit the stream together, reach out on Instagram or Facebook with a private message.

Your right, good stuff fellas. It's so green out there! Where I'm at in the valley of northern California, it's still very hot and dry.
@SufferingOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Yeah we have been dry here too but we stay pretty greens. I was checking our your videos too. You do a great job and I can tell you put a lot of effort into your videos. I would love to fish CA some time in the future.

Great vid to watch when the water temps are not conducive to trout fishing on most streams. I'm telling you, John, you're blessed with a great ability to put together quality stuff! And that one brookie was a real beaut, as well!!

It has been the year of the brook trout for sure. Thanks Dave! Looking forward to when we can make it out again.

Thanks Mike, you should definitely fish it some time. There are remote sections that would be towards your liking.

Were you able to spot fish rising?
@SufferingOutdoors Жыл бұрын
On this trip, not until just before dark, not many fish rising until then.

Do you use the same drop shot method as Dave?
@SufferingOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Similar but a little different, I’m using a mono rig to a standard 5x tapered leader. I have sighter between the mono right and leader then add another section of soghter near the bottom of the leader. I can’t switch it out to dry fly fish though, that’s the benefit to Dave’s system.

Looks like beginner fly fishers! Thanks for revealing one of my spots.
@SufferingOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I apologize you feel that way. I am very careful on what streams I name in my videos and do my best not to spot burn. The camp site is well marked by the DCNR and many websites. Slate Run is probably the second most popular stream in Lycoming county outside of Pine Creek and has been publicized and advertised for years by local businesses promoting it. You are right about us being beginners. We are a couple young guys who love to fish and enjoy the outdoors. I’m ok with criticism but don’t want other beginner fly fishers to feel negativity about their skill level if they are trying to learn.

What a shitty comment and attitude. Keep up the good work, guys, screw the haters.

Ya don't touch the fish & ya can't swim in the stream. It's a class "A" wild stream, read your regulations.
@davidreed77182 жыл бұрын
Ya don't touch the fish
@davidreed77182 жыл бұрын
Don't like when you reveal my camp site. And you should never touch the fish, the slim you feel on the fish is their line of defense of drowning. In a couple of hours thos fish will go belly up.
