The sting of losing a fish, then says he stinks at fishing. I’ve watched too many videos to know that’s not the case GB! Keep them coming…
@reelsimplekayakfishing33385 ай бұрын
Hey Greg, I wanted to offer my opinion on why you were missing those fish. See time stamp 25:54. The hook is pinned right in the corner of the fish’s mouth. You might have lost those bigger fish because the hook was landing in the same place but those bigger fish have really hard areas around the hinge of their mouth. Setting the hook harder is an option but you risk breaking your line. My suggestion is to change your wacky rig style to a heat shrink ring or similar method. This will allow your hook to point straight up and pin the fish in the top or bottom of the mouth. The rubber wacky ring method is simple, but requires the hook point to run parallel to the bait and impede hook penetration and it guides the hook to the corner of the fish’s mouth. Hope this helps, thanks for the videos! No doubt the best in the business!

They clearly wanted the senko. Next time try beefing up your setup if you notice fish coming unpegged. I know you like the spinning rod, but a baitcaster with 15-20lb line probably would’ve landed you more fish. Fish aren’t too line shy this time of year. Great video!! Always a joy to watch. I also met your buddy Romel a few days ago. Super nice guy! You have a genuine crew. Cheers🤙🏽

Yo I noticed after your carp snag that you were losing fish more often, I think it was your drag which is so important for wacky rigging. I always put a mark on spool and drag knob so I can adjust it back to the sweet spot actuately because all that time in to get your drag setting down goes out the window when a carp or huge fish comes along. Great video!!

Greg huge tip for fishing reeds and that they get into if you put 15 lb test on a bait caster and horse then in in that same bite/scenario you’ll land 2x as much while the senko on a spinning is beneficial this particular bite I think it would be better with a baitcaster more of a cast and let it sink bite

Great video and insight GB! If I may ask, would you be able to try a setup I use here in South Carolina? Using a spinning rod, 8-10lb test mono for a leader. Use the Zman Goat with a 3/0 offset or EWG hook. It’s like a finesse frogging setup. It works very well around the pads and grass down here. I use Green pumpkin color so bass see that darker shadow above them. Also, with the bait being softer than a frog, my hook up ratio is better. If any other Cali anglers have already used this setup, let me know how it works for you. Can’t wait for the next video.

Lost fish could be due to the O ring. THe hook is horizontal to the worm. When I start losing them I either hook directly into the worm or use shrink wrap tubing to enable the hook to be vertical through the worm.
