These kinds of smaller games are fun and all, some even have great stories (like What Remains Of Edith Finch, I guess that's the name), but I feel like there's not many devs using the so told power of the upcoming new generation and producing new, big, AAA games, for some reason

I'm glad, games have gotten to big and bloated.. I don't need games to be movies, I have movies for that.. Think about on the ps2 they could knock out a trilogy of games over a generation.. What if we used the tech today to make games basicly around the size of those games.. You would have more games in smaller increments.. The tech would still develop from game 1 to 3 but they could focus more on the parts that they know will work for each instalment insted of trying to put everything the generation can offer in one game..
