The early Hank Snow version of this song (Words and Music by Bill Trader) covered by many singers since. Sounds as good today as it did then.
Whilst I respect the right of any person to express an opinion (favourable or otherwise); any comments which contain foul language, insults or profanities will be removed and the writer blocked from posting again. If all others on KZbin followed this practice certain trouble makers would hopefully soon disappear.
30th Aug 2011. For about a month I failed to notice a disgusting reply to another poster on here. Uploaders aren't notified of replies to other people. May I ask if any of the vast majority of decent people who use KZbin receive or notice a reply that needs attention, on any upload on this channel, they message me so action can be taken.

DelTangBrav I really appreciate the stand you take on refusing to tolerate vulgar or inappropriate comments on your channel. It’s never okay to show vulgarity and serves no purpose. Be kind to one another gets the best results. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video of Hank Snow.

Thankyou - I appreciate your support in my stance... the only ones who don't support it appear to be trolls who have been using KZbin comments as their personal playground for far too long, For those who haven't seen what is referred to (it must have been there for over ten years) here is what is said: "PLEASE NOTE: That bad language or abusive replies to others will not be tolerated on this channel. Furthermore whenever I see people using bad language or abusive behaviour elsewhere, they get blocked before they even arrive". That does not prevent fair comment or moderate expletives.

My dad - a Chinaman from New Zealand, used to play this song often in my childhood and I remember him singing along at the top of his voice with 'Hank'. My siblings and I knew all the words and just listening to this track brought back so many memories of dad and the good times we had. Bet Hank didn't know he had Chinese/Kiwi fans back in the 50's. Dad was so sad when Hank died. You'd have thought he lost his own brother.

There are certain singers who come along once in your lifetime, like Hank, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, and a bunch of others..They are all gone now and never will be replaced...The only thing today's generation has is the bunch of imitators that you see on shows like Country Music Awards, that can't measure up no matter how hard they try.....It's a shame.

As a Nova Scotian, I have always loved Hank Snow,s talents not just as a singer, but his tremendous talent as a guitar player. He was a perfectionist, and a no nonsense man on stage. Something the newer generation could learn from. Also, in this video, please note his guitar player, the great Chubby Wise, who played with Hank for many years until a bad heart condition made him retire.

+Larry Gaum Thanks for your comment but I think you'll find the "guitar" Chubby Wise is playing is a "violin". (Sometimes called a fiddle). Feel free to edit your comment - I'll then remove this reply. I do realise it was a slight "lapse" and I don't wish to appear sarcastic.☺☺☺ If you don't know how to edit click on the three little dots (top right corner) select EDIT then change the word "Guitar" to "Fiddle" Best Wishes David.

@@joycedunkle7747 Hi again Joyce. I meant to add that there were songs that were cleverly worded, funny and a little risqué. Now when they're heard it makes you think how skilful those artists were. On a radio station here, recently, a group of young people played an Eddy Cantor song 'If You Knew Susie'. What struck me was the silent pause at the end when they realised how clever the lyrics were without being crude.

some singers / musicians can transport us back in time, back to a sweetheart's embrace. So uncanny. I can even feel the chill in the air that night.

This is a song I have loved for so long by Hank. Other artists have sung it but Hank is the man as far as I'm concerned. It has a special meaning for me and even though I don't cry when I hear it I really feel a lot of emotion. Hank is terrific on the guitar. His voice and style are perfect for great country music. I don't know who wrote it but he or she is a great writer. Thanks again for this treasure. - Paula

He came to Montreal back in the sixities and I met him in person . i was only 13 and as i went up close to the stage to see him better , the MC Gordon Sinclair saw me . so he brought me on stage and gave me his own chair.. Gordon sat on the floor next to me during the whole show and then I met Hank , had my picture taken with him.. They were both fine gentlemen and I never forgot that evening. . Hank Snow , the best of all time. , thank you for posting. Beautiful memories.

On this day in 1952 {Nov. 15th} "(Now and Then There's) A Fool Such As I" by Hank Snow was released; eventually it reached #3 on Billboard's C&W Singles chart... Seven years later on March 23rd, 1959 Elvis' covered version of the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it peaked at #2 for one week {it did one position better across the pond, for on May 15th, 1959 it reached #1 for 5 weeks on the United Kingdom's Singles chart}... R.I.P. Mr. Snow {1914 - 1999} & to The King {1935 - 1977}...

Dear Mr. DelTangBrav, Thank you for posting this song once again. I made a comment two months ago, addressing my praise, but I would like to thank you once again. Your channel has introduced me to the wonders of country music. As a young person, I am surrounded by soulless music, but (older) country music, especially with artists like Hank Snow, capture the amount of story and beauty of music that I adore. This rendition of A Fool Such as I remains one of my favorite songs. I cite this video as the beginning of my love of a simpler kind of music. Once again, thank you! I hope you are doing well during the quarantine as well.

My spirits are lifted when I read and hear of younger people who appreciate the simpler country music that told a story and gripped your heart. I was born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's. Many a night I had my huge transistor radio in my bed, listening to 50's and 60's country, which was modern at that time. In the late 60's and early 70's I was in a band that played the rock of that time. When I left the band I went back to the old country. Now in my later years I still play Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Ray Price, and the like. The 40's, 50's, and 60's country music is hard to beat. The 70's, 80's, and a lot of 90's had some good country, but most since then has missed the boat in a big way.

@@jlmikeals9236 I am slightly envious of you, you got to grow up in such a good era of music! Of course, since this is an age of computers, I have access to any music I want, but it must have been different to grow up with this music being more mainstream. I admire this music dearly and it makes me want to live a carefree country lifestyle myself. It’s very cool that you were in a band, though, that sounds like such a cool experience!
