I'm very proud to say that Ernest Tubb was my first big show. I was a Sr in high school, skipped my Sr class play cast party, and I was the male lead. My mother couldn't understand. I know today I did right. That was 1977.

When I had afterschool detention of my high school students I made them come to my classroom, sit quietly, hands folded on their desk top, and I would play this video over and over and over for a half hour. Most of them never were to come again. Beats water boarding or a flogging. God Bless E.T.

Omg! I remember! I was about 13 . i loved him and his music! I was raised on it! He came to my school to perform a show. And sing! He had a big touring bus parked there. To do a concert! Cost 50 cents to see his concert. Tours of his was free! He so nice! He. Asked me if i wanted to look at his bus? I don't have no money! He said come in and look around. I was greatful! I told him i sure want to hear u sing. Waltz across Texas! I raised on it. He said come see. I said we can't we poor. He asked me if i had brothers and sister? Yes! He gave me 4 free tickets for us to come see his concert. We all got to go. My most favorite song! Waltz across Texas! It's a most beautiful waltz! I learned to dance it long time back. My step dad showed me how! Great dancer! Taught me how! Old Navy cook. World war 2! Great cook! Cooked wonderful food! He had t.b. got it overseas serving in the war. He was the 2nd eldest of 4 brothers. They all served in the armed forces! Army and Navy! Full blood Irishmen! Rounders! My grandad boss! They all came back from serving. Thot they bad? Got drunk after coming back. Thot they whoop daddy's ass! I saw him whoop thier asses! When grandad thru with them! Sad ! They almost unrecognizable! He made them sleep on the porch. My grandad told me. Don't let them in. No matter what! Yes sir! Woman and children in here. I was a little child then. I did what my grandad told me to do!

The year? 1968, of course! In my humble 71-year-old opinion, the very best rock AND country music happened in the sixties. In spite of the war (or perhaps because of it), human creativity seemed to blossom and flourish at that time, in all of the creative arts. I was 18 years old in1968, about to graduate high school, and worried about the draft. Songs like this helped me get through a rough time in my life . . . THANKS A LOT, ERNEST TUBB!!!

I am almost 33, but I think that the best music came out of the 50s and my mom is almost 56 and she thinks the same. Also my Nana, her mother does too and she is almost 78.

I saw him perform in the Fall of 1958 at Sunrise, MD. It was a small venue with about 500 spectators. He was so humble and friendly, and he signed autographs for all who wanted them. He let me see his 1956 Cadillac Fleetwood and watch his band load up their small pull behind trailer. I was just a 12 year old kid, but I never forgot Earnest!

I was blessed to work with Noel Stanley who was ETs bass player. Noel went on to work with Jack Greene and on leaving the road got in to law enforcement. He eventually became my Lieutenant when I was in the crime lab in Montgomery Co Tx. His stories of ET and company kept us all entertained. Noel was one of the kindest and best leaders I ever worked for and watching these videos keeps him alive to me.

I first saw Ernest Tubb in a cameo part from Coal Miners Daughter starring Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn , and now all these years later I am enjoying this legend of the Grand Ole Opry , back in 1980 I was stuck mainly with Disco , now (older -LOL ! ) this is my speed for great music, I have always been one who liked various types of music from Top 40 to Classical-even some RAP as long as it's not negative, depending on my mood, Thank you for uploading this great copy of Ernest and his Troubadors
