The bullets absolutely MUST have a trail that clearly shows in which direction they are flying during pause.
@johnlanglie78855 ай бұрын
"Must" is an interesting choice of words. But they already do. It's subtle, but the bullets aren't exactly round, they're kinda football-shaped, and they're longer in the direction of travel. Since they're always going in a straight line from the shooter, you know which way they're going. Plus if you hover your cursor over a bullet it draws a red dotted line showing its path. You can see that at 9:36, a line appears (for about 15 frames, or a quarter of a second) when Splattercat mouses over the left bullet.
@CountCocofang5 ай бұрын
@@johnlanglie7885 Mousing over is additional, unnecessary hassle. Why gate that vital information behind an additional action if you could just show it at all times without interfering with the game? The pixel graphics also do not make it very obvious at a glance where the tip and end of a bullet is. And even if it did then a line would be superior visual communication.
@johnlanglie78855 ай бұрын
@CountCocofang "Mousing over is an additional, unnecessary hastle" in a turn-based game with no turn timer, that you control with your mouse. And again, the information is there. I agree, it would be a great accessibility feature if they had a "lines always on" option, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love this game with visual impairment, or memory/focus issues that make remembering the direction difficult, but the way you're framing it makes it pretty clear that you're just trying your damnedest to pretend like you have a legitimate gripe. If you want to find something to piss and moan about, try harder than "but I don't like having to point to things that I want more information about!"
@CountCocofang5 ай бұрын
@@johnlanglie7885 Is the game your precious dog or something? Clearly visually communicating, like through always-on lines, to highlight which direction the bullets are flying while the time is frozen without having to input any additional actions is superior to not having that. Less necessary input for the desired UI output is better. Period. How it's communicated right now is lacking. That's all.
@johnlanglie78855 ай бұрын
I actually don't much care about this game. It seems nice, but it doesn't grab my attention, and I'll probably forget about it completely after this conversation. What I do care about are jerks. You said it needs an indication of bullet direction when paused. You're right, it does. I pointed out that it does actually have that, in multiple ways, and you can also deduce the direction without an indicator. Your verbiage is grating, but if the conversation concluded after that, I would have no problem at all. But you doubled down. You felt hurt by someone disagreeing with you, and you decided the best course of action was to respond with hostility, condescension, and superiority. And here in your last comment you reinforce it. You start with a flippant and dismissive question, essentially asking "why do you even care" as if that were in any way a legitimate or relevant concern. And then, again, present your personal preference as if it were obviously the superior and universally preferred option. And if you were actually concerned with this as a conversation, you might have noticed that I fucking agreed with you. Being able to determine unambiguously where the danger is and will be is important. But in a pixel art game with a highly stylized aesthetic, potentially covering the screen with red dots is just as likely to obscure other pertinent details, such as whether or not there is an edge to get caught on like we saw Splattercat do multiple times. Your opinion is fine, but the change you want doesn't exist in a vacuum, there's a necessary compromise involved, and to suggest say that it should be the default or that it is just the best option, "Period...That's all" is, with all due respect, incredibly foolish and self-absorbed. It should be an option. But I doubt it would even be the majority preference. I think most people would be perfectly fine with looking at the tindications that are already present, or just remembering, or mousing over a bullet if they need a reminder, if that gives them a less cluttered view of the stage.
