@@infinitetandem No idea, but the tooltip says "show active color attribute" so perhaps it's intended to work with more than just vertex colors, such as with the output of the attribute node.

Gorgeous tutorial! Thanks a lot, it's very useful. One thing that stood up to me though, was the definition of "damp". As far as I've read it's better described as "amount of energy lost due to inner friction". To me it makes a lot of sense and it helps understanding damp also in cloth simulations, for example.

This was very helpful in increasing my basic and broader understanding of dynamic paint, and stands up in 2.9 too. For anyone wanting to render their results I have found adding an "Attribute" node with a value of the paint map (default: "dp_paintmap") to the "Base Color" of a standard Principled BSDF material applied to the canvas mesh works. Not sure if this is a dreadful hack or as intended.
@llYuki0okami Жыл бұрын
Yes, Node Attribute with Geometry Type and in Name type the name of our Paintmap Layer (same as Vertex Color in ObjectDataProperties of the mesh) for me it was "Col". To mix this with object texture - make Multiply Node, to the Color1 connet Color Output of texture, to the Color2 connect Color Output of Attribut Node, and to the Fac connect Alpha output of Attribute Node.

Hi, Mr. Cheebs I just found your channel and your style of explaining the tutorials is GREAT! CLEAR VOICE, And NO unnecessary jokes and other distracting noises GREAT! To make it better change the color of your pointer to a color one to be able to see it more easily, zoom in to the input fields, .... The sound effects you are using are ok, BUT these need to be really low volume, Right now they are to laud and annoying.

Would you have any ideas as to how I can get the canvas to disappear and just leave the text so I can add it to a video in post production? Thanks
@MrCheebs4 жыл бұрын
You could try using the paint as a factor between your material node and a transparent node in the shader editor - you may have to run it through a colorramp, but I think that would work.

hi, how do you move the circle sphere at 2:56?
@MrCheebs4 жыл бұрын
That's just me grabbing and moving the mesh on only the X and Y axes. You can move a mesh in a specific direction by hitting the key for that axis after the G key (X, Y, or Z key). If you hold down the SHIFT key and press an axis key after the G key, that axis will be excluded (so pressing G to move and then SHIFT Z will move a mesh only on the X and Y axes.)

Hi Cheebs, i have a question. I've done wave and displacement plugged on the same canvas as you described on the video, and they interact with each other very nicely at viewport, but when I render (yes after baking) it only appears one of the paint mapping...what am I doing wrong? Both of them are vertex format.
@ianzits3 жыл бұрын
I managed to resolve the problem by adding the displacement as image sequence and paint map, then I plugged as a texture to generate the heights that I needed, baked first the displacement, then the waves painting, worked nicely over the displacement...if anyone runs into this same issue as me.

Great video, I does have one question: when weight painting, in 2.7, when blender weight painted, you could actually watch the paint being painted, not in 2.8. When i used the dp_weight map, blender only seems to recognize it for hair and not particles (see Albin Merels's video kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGSUZJpog5qbkMU), any help would be appreciated!
@MrCheebs4 жыл бұрын
It does seem like the only way to see the weights being painted is to be in weight paint mode when the brush moves. Hopefully the Blender devs can implement a viewport overlay in the future - I'm sure a lot of people would really appreciate it. As for making the particles be affected by the weights in realtime, the method detailed in that video you linked (thanks for that by the way, it's awesome) seems to be the only way that reliably works. I did try baking a black and white image sequence in paint mode and using that as the as a texture mask, but that unfortunately didn't work either. So for now, it appears as if duplicating the groundplane and using the vertex group with the mask modifier is the only option.
