Few things. Navy Suit; you can wear brown/black/oxblood shoes with. Not just brown. Trends come and go, stick with things that are classic style. Skinny Ties for skinny guys. If you're the guy on the right and wear a skinny tie, you'll look even bigger, because the tie will look tiny in proportion to your body. This video is informative yes, but missing certain points.
@Briskwarrior9 жыл бұрын
Also, double windsor knot or bust.
@foshogun9 жыл бұрын
Briskwarrior I used to always go double but I have since realized that it is just like you said for the tie width. The knot should be appropriate to the tie, lapel, and collar width. I have come around to the idea that a single knot can be a nice 'casual' look when paired correctly with your attire. But certainly at a formal event a double is usually the way to go.

Great comment!

This is fine advice for formal attire, but most men do not need to and should not suit up all the time, even for work. If your boss(es) is not wearing a suit, you likely should not being where one either. What you want to do is to be dressed slightly nicer then your coworkers. If your coworkers are wearing jeans and T shirts, where anything more then slacks and polo shirts is likely too much. There is a time and place to be dressed up and a time and place to be dressed down, it is important to know the difference.
@chrisneto9 жыл бұрын
I'd place it in the realm of common sense for anyone to know what attire is relevant for the event they are attending.
@Loathomar9 жыл бұрын
chris neto place it in the realm of common sense for anyone to know how to dress in a suit, but then that was this ENTIRE video... so? If there advice is "don't wear wrinkled dress wear" maybe they need to state when to wear dress wear, cause clearly those who need that advice live outside of common sense, no?
@MrHeems9 жыл бұрын
I hate you for saying "suit up".
@chrisneto9 жыл бұрын
Loathomar Uh, I didn't say it was common sense to know how to dress in a suit, but when. Often when you're attending an event you'll be notified if what "type" of dress is expected (smart casual, formal, etc.). Not everyone gets measurements for their formal attire or tucks their shirt into a sock clip. Your comment said that people don't wear formal attire all the time. True, but the video isn't about when to wear formal attire, it's about how to dress for a formal situation - something that not everyone, hence outside common sense - is often subject to.

@kateroy34458 жыл бұрын
it's cool man. A big guy in a sharp suit can be very imposing and impressive. Biggie, Barry White etc. You just have to find the right fit, which I know can be hard if you're big. Bespoke suits are good but expensive. It'd be useful to find a Taylor who can alter stuff. You could always just Google 'plus size suits.' I'm no expert of course-but that's what I do when I try to find dresses that fit. You can look sharp at any size, man. 😊 Good luck!👍

Never trust a man who wears a bow tie. The bow tie, in particular, is an indicator of someone who is completely concerned with his appearance, to the detriment of everything else in his life.

ok with that larger guy's body shape a skinny tie does not work. plus regardless of shoe color if you're going to wear a belt it must match the color .brown shoes brown belt. black shoes black belt. and yes i agree that bow tie looked awfull i recomend practice practice practice on any tie knot but i do love a good bow tie
