Flat Earther's don't understand how an Equatorial mount works. If they did, they would understand why they confirm the Earth is a Globe.
But is is amusing to see their responses which only confirms they don't get it.

Wolfie my dear man, your question makes no sense on FE. You see, you have failed to consider some factors that need to be known to answer that question on our true FE. For starters, what's the relative density disequalibrium force applied to your personal dome at the time the angle of that telescope was set? This is important to know because while you cant have gas pressure next to a vacuum, its well understood that Spectroscopy needs to be in a container. Another factor you left out is the ethers electromagnitc force that creates density relative to the atmoplain conditions. But remember, that needs to be measured at least 25 sheep units from the dome's innermost layer, not too close to the ice wall though. Now do you see why your question is nonsense? If any of that was beyond your understanding, Arwyn will gladly clear up any questions you may have. Of course, none of this would be an issue if you just used a P900, the best telescope EVER made, you could just zoom Tartaria back into view.

Or maybe you can cut to chase and show us how water in volume can maintain a FIXED CURVING state upon it's SURFACES as depicted on a model globe nearest you i.e. the ATLANTIC and PACIFIC OCEANS CURVING upon its SURFACES for almost 25,000 miles in CIRCUMFERENCE!!? You should hear Gary in the discords every day lately, wolfie wolfie wolfie says EQ mounts can't track from horizon to horizon, king's rate ho hum. Also, perhaps his best yet "You'll wind up at the equator if you FOLLOW a compass east" ~ Gary Wybenga circa 2023 ..... & he's already quadrupled down on it. Apparently those vids/memes/animations showing how any "initial" east direction makes a great circle when wrapped really confused him. @@Wolfie6020Can confirm. I let him know that the King rate correction is something on the order of 0.003º per hour (it varies based on latitude and declination, but it always tiny). So closer to the horizon, a star might move at 15.037º per hour instead of 15.04º per hour. And Gary still thinks that this minuscule error means EQ mounts don't work at all on a globe.

Near the equator. If I'm not mistaken, you gave a clear hint: That the telescope can track *any* star in the sky where you are (or wasn't this part of the puzzle?). That "single axis of rotation" is a red herring, right? Isn't that what an EM can do anywhere on earth if set up correctly? What I'm not sure is if that is the usual way to position the EM (I don't do astronomy as a hobby, so I'm not sure), having the nice NASA logo horizontal should also work (just the axis have to be used differently)?
@notahotshot
@notahotshot 11 ай бұрын
No, "single axis of rotation" is not a red herring. Yes an equatorial mount can track using a single axis of rotation anywhere on earth if set up correctly. The question is where is he on earth, considering the mount, as shown in the video, is set up correctly (pointing north, and polar aligned). Basically where is he, considering the telescope is pointing at the North Star, Polaris. It's at or near 0° (horizontal), so he's at or near the equator.

Can the flat earth believers understand simple physics? If we climb to 73 nautical miles (nm) above the earth and glance around 360 degrees we can only see a flat horizon, because, earth radius is 3,440 nm. 73 nm above the earth's surface (a distance that flat earth believers claim we must be able to see the earth's curvature) is 2.1% of the radius. Imagine being an ant standing on the top of a competition basketball and gazing 360 degrees around from where you stand. The radius of the ball is 240 millimetres and your eyes, at 2.1% of that radius would be 5.04 of a millimetre (mm) above the surface of that ball. How could you see a curvature between you and the horizon in any direction because you would have to be able to see that curvature sloping away from you to the horizon? You could not see a curvature of the distant horizon sloping away 90 degrees at the horizon to either your left or right because you are on a plane which is relative to the horizon, not the same altitude, and equidistant to the horizon in all directions from you. Simply adjust that picture to the size of the earth and you can see that claiming a curved horizon makes no sense at all, because the horizon is flat as described. It is easier to draw this out on paper and you get the full picture. It is interesting to note that the International Space Station (ISS) orbits at 400 kilometres (216 nautical miles which is 3 times the above quoted distance) above the earth so I would imagine that flat earthers would accept what is seen from the ISS but I note my previous where I say that the observers there could only see a curvature away from them toward the horizon in any of 360 directions. The horizon surrounding them will always be straight/level as they are on the same plane, not the same altitude, as the horizon. I hope this can put a stop to the claims of an horizon being curved to the left and right of an observer.

I'm kinda flat earther as it's been long for me looking into any globe/FE stuff, it looks like that's on the equator, assuming the rotation axis of that mount is horizontal, but my mind lost the grasp on how would that orientation and rotation would follow any star other than the polar star
@spheroidialmaster1910
@spheroidialmaster1910 11 ай бұрын
It need not "follow" the Pole star in that orientation but would be pointed constantly AT the Pole star without moving. (assuming a hypothetically clear horizon). The telescope itself is pointing parallel to the Polar axis going from left to right in the picture. The red bar holding the weights is the declination axis. Point the telescope directly toward the camera by rotating it around that axis and it will be pointing due East. Turn on the drive which powers rotation around the Polar axis and the telescope will follow a star in that field WITHOUT changing the declination setting again. This works for ANY star at ANY declination, and is not possible on a flat plane.

The problem is with the telescope itself,.... a telescope mounted on an equatorial mount has no fixed vector datum, that is to say the equatorial mount adjusts to find the stars location from MOVING cartesian coordinates. The trap we all fall into is that the telescope should not move to find the stars. The Heliocentric model works by the Earth, 1. spinning on its axis, 2. revolving around the sun, 3. the sun revolving around the galaxy, yet we observe all these vectors using a Flat Earth model. The equatorial mounted telescope functions as if it was the master frame of reference on a stationary flat plane and adjusts to the movements of the external references as if the Earth was the centre of the universe. I had trouble getting my head around it so I had to invent a new telescope to make sense of the vectors. Possibly the easiest explanation is to go to my channel and watch the video on the PLeane Telescope,... now imagine the datum point at the back of the Telescope fixed to the centre of the Milky Way, now track the movement of the stars, what's really moving?

So. Let me get this "straight",,,, your model teaches things you instantly believe in due to the duration you have believed it yet they all comprise material that cannot be physically--demonstrated and that's ok because you have "logical-fallacy" i.e. an ability to beg the question to attempt to substantiate your model. What do I mean? 1. Gas pressure can only be physically--demonstrated with a physical--container!! Rebuttal? Chanting and pointing at sky = begging the question fallacy- 2. Gas has no FIXED shape or VOLUME yet you believe gas has an ability to maintain a fixed--curving--state in bands or layers when........ No such thing can be physically--demonstrated! Rebuttal? Chanting and pointing at sky= begging the question fallacy- 3. Water in volume always seeks and maintains its level but your model states water in volume has an ability to maintain a fixed--curving--state upon it's surface which cannot be physically--demonstrated. Rebuttal ? Chanting. (zero G) More chanting. 4. Gas has an ability to resist filling a vacuum yet this cannot be physically--demonstrated. Rebuttal ? Chanting and pointing at sky = begging the question fallacy- 5. Vacuums- can be infinite-and expand when no such thing can be physically--demonstrated. A physical--container is required to achieve a vacuum-and once contained they cannot expand! Rebuttal? Chanting & hissing. Pointing to sky= begging the question fallacy- 6. Cannot/refusal to explain the WHY in WHY they " don't know what GRAVITY is ITSELF in ANY FUNDAMENTAL WAY" Rebuttal? = no rebuttal + chanting and hissing.

@ramonortiz7462 I hate to repeat myself, but you do insist on asking the same question multiple times, so here goes. DEFINITION Equatorial plane: noun, Astronomy. The plane passing through the equator of the earth or another celestial body. USAGE The Equatorial Coordinate System is generally the preferred way astronomers use to keep track of the positions of objects in the sky. Astronomers imagine that the Earth is surrounded by a large sphere called the celestial sphere. The Earth's equator and the plane of the Earth's orbit are projected onto this sphere. Celestial Coordinates The Equatorial Coordinate System uses two measurements, right ascension and declination. Right ascension (abbreviated RA) is similar to longitude and is measured in hours, minutes and seconds eastward along the celestial equator. The distance around the celestial equator is equal to 24 hours. Declination is similar to latitude and is measured in degrees, arcminutes and arcseconds, north or south of the celestial equator. Positive values for declination correspond to positions north of the equator, while negative values refer to positions south of the equator. The declination of the north celestial pole is 90° 0' 0" and the south celestial pole's declination is -90° 0' 0". The equator is 0° 0' 0". The position of an object is stated with the right ascension first, then the declination. For example, the bright star Sirius' position is RA: 6h45m8.9s Dec: -16°42'52.1". In answer to your question "Have I silenced all detractors!?" The answer is NO! All you have done is prove that you are unwilling to learn, and accept things that don't agree with your views.

This telescope is on a mount, on a tripod, on an artificial floor, on an artificial foundation. _(see 4)_ 4. _There is no place on Earth:_ This telescope appears to incline upward. Any telescope not on or below ground _(literally; on earth),_ must point downwards to be "facing north," because "North" is a single point on the surface of the Earth. If you were directly above either the north or south pole, "facing north" would be straight down. Earth isn't transparent, so you couldn't track any stars. 5. _There is no place on Earth:_ If the telescope here is "facing north," then "with this angle of orientation," it cannot track any stars south of it. 6. _There is no place on Earth:_ In "this angle of orientation" the telescope cannot track any stars outside _(e.g. behind)_ of it's lens's current field of view. Which is what, a few degrees? ..so any star it's not pointed at, at nightfall, using _only_ steady rotation, could not "track all night." 7. _There is no place on Earth:_ Stars are in space, there are no stars in the sky. Because there's no dome. 8. _There is no place on Earth:_ The lens cap is on. 9. _There is no place on Earth:_ It cannot track stars more than 28.5 Gpc distant. 10. _There is no place on Earth:_ The sun isn't visible at night, it's "a star in the sky." 11. _There is no place on Earth:_ Nearly all "stars in the sky" either rise or set when it's not night. 12. _There is no place on Earth:_ Some visible stars no longer exist, so can't be tracked. 13. _There is no place on Earth:_ Light takes time. None of the stars we look at are in that spot by the time we see 'em.
