👻 A Ghost Town in England!? Green Laning Yorkshire

A ghost town... in Yorkshire... in England... This is the stuff of dreams. I watch so many videos from our overland friends in the USA visiting old mining ghost towns, I never thought I'd find one so close to home.
We were driving the Scar House Reservoir green lanes, their actual names are Dead Mans Hill and In Moor Lane, and after we dropped down from Dead Mans Hill to the reservoir we drove through a ghost town.
I love exploring as you just never know what you might find. On this trip, the ghost turn we found was the hamlet of Lodge. Lodge is a former medieval grange farm for the Cistercian Abbey of Byland. The hamlet was sold into private ownership following the dissolution of the monasteries in the mid-16th century. The hamlet is recorded on Saxton’s map of 1577 as ‘Lodge howses’, and appears on Ordnance Survey maps from the mid-18th century onwards. It was continually occupied up to abandonment in the 1920s after the beginning of dam works for the creation of Scar House Reservoir c1921.

This is my neck of the woods, I used to work as a Paramedic up there, it’s a beautiful area. The track is maintained by the Green lane association/ trail riders fellowship. I often ride it on my enduro bike. Lovely video, great to see a dad showing his son a great time.👍

great lane that and a cracking video, ive recently moved to off road bikes from road bikes and ehem i broke my ankle on that lane lol on a ktm 890, skill issue but hasnt phased me. Nice video m8

are you getting nipper to follow the truck with drone or follow me poi ? have a mini 3pro and a mavic 3 and generally drive and g/f doesnt fly the drone.... so gotta learn a safe technique

No 1 wants green lanes like this what people want is challenging lanes with fear danger in beautiful scenery that are hardous to drive proper green laners don't own the type of motor your in they use land rover your pictures are that perfect are you sure you don't work for the goverment trying to get the tourists back you have no chance at all without the lanes become a challenging
