Thats funny I have an 06 and I do say the quality is in fact really great and stands out even in 2024.

I have an 03 SG faded that I ditched the 490s and instead got Seymour Duncan 59 and Custom 5. Upgraded it to .033 mojotone caps Love it to the moon and went with grover tuners over the klusons, better tuning stability. I also have a super rare 99 SG Deluxe with the 3 mini humbuckers, I had to salvage that with mini p90s and a seymour duncan sm3b. I thought the bigsby looked out of place so I had a vibrola trem and locking tuners with a bridge with rolling saddles to keep tuning stable. Both guitars are my main axes

Want to hear something kind of funny,,,it is almost coming down to perfection will be in the eye of the beholder. I’ve had SG’S got a 62 standard. But check this out. R Y a Gibson lover. Or are Ya going to be a lover of the SG tone and sound. See what I am saying. Gibson has been at it for a long time. But where is the consistency? I am finding luthiers quite able to make a superior quality product, at a cheaper price, But the SG has been a major focus in the shaping of rock and roll,,,only con, neck dive,,,great vid!

this model was my first expensive guitar purchase as a teen, in 20 years Ive bought and sold maybe a dozen guitars. The SG has remained constant. I've added locking tuners in 2008 and all else is stock. the case was a mouldy gig bag (still got it) but its been kept in a flight cases when stored. I've added a few minor dings from gigging but the colour is amazing, cant see the 2 piece part like with yours but is aged well. I do have some neck dive but I love the 50s neck. As a kid I remember people telling me the neck was weirdly chunky for an SG. I love this guitar and the fretboard has indeed turned to a glass like finish

Had one of these. They were like 500 bucks brand new. Gibsons cheap era. Now a studio is like 2000 dollars or something 🤑

They were like 529 in 2005 But if you factor inflation that’s like a 1000$ guitar today

I’m buying a 2004 faded tonight but mine has pickup covers. Great price I’m getting it for

You may want to check out the pickups as they have likely been swapped. They may be upgrades though!

I have a 94,. Added chrome covers just because I like the look. Had to carve out the pick guard a tiny bit to make them fit.

I immediately noticed the two piece body and thought hmmmm it looks a bit cheap. Nothing wrong with mismatching wood joints if going to be painted over with a solid colour, but shoddy factory quality control for a 'transparent' finish. However, you like it - so that's all that matters. I also would enjoy it's imperfect wonky charm if I'd got it for a bargain price.. I vaguely remember guitar forum complaints about early 2000s budget price Faded USA Gibsons not being much better than far cheaper Chinese imports. But it seems to be in our nature to have love/hate relationships with Gibsons. I own a couple of 2015s - which may have been one of the worst ever years for problematic Gibson guitars. But I got lucky enough with low prices, so I'm more than happy to put up with their faults.
