Glad your dog is being cared for well. From a fellow dog fan. Thanks once again for taking a hit for the team on this unit.

I, too, have the Retekess TR620, auto-reverse portable cassette player/recorder/radio. While it's not a device I'd goto for recording music, I do love that little unit! Oh, it's mono playback and I'm fine with it as well. If I want to listen to something in stereo, I'll use my Onkyo cassette deck. Keep up the great work!

Speaking of portable cassettes players, I hooked up my cassette player to my stereo via aux and it sounds so good!

Thank you, finally a better review. Most of the reviewers of this kind of Tech make no effort, no editing. Very slack. Yours is a lot clear and audio is better. Looks like you put effort into your videos to a point. Enough to show me what I wanted to know.

Thanks for the demo, Recordology, and I have become a fan of Retekess pocket radios and I purchased a few on eBay these past couple of months, but in terms of portable cassette players/radios, I'll stick to my mid-80's/early 90's Sony Walkman units that I bought a year or two ago on eBay for roughly $15 to $25 a unit. They still sound great (no recording feature, but that doesn't matter) and they have two-level MegaBass, Dolby Noise Reduction, and great AM/FM reception, not to mention cool Sony styling of that era. However, it's still great to see what Retekess could create. :)

White looks fresh.i like the idea of white electronics,even in the older days.a nice little product for the person on the go.its just a nice,basic little machine,not trying to be something if isnt.

It looks nice, I'll give it that. I actually like that it has a dedicated antenna so it doesn't rely on your headphone cable. Some of the worst DC-bias recording hiss I've ever heard. It almost sounds like it has a bad transistor or something. The lack of wow and flutter was nice though. I bought one of the last good AC-bias cassette recorders that Radio Shack had to offer back around 2007. I owned it till around 2013. Kind of wish I still had it.

How does the playback sound when recording off the radio?

I really appreciate your positive reviews on the things that you get (except the the horrible DIGITNOW). Everybody can not afford a top-of-line system. Keep up the good work. Incidentally, I get a kick out of your intro's. Sears cassette player, your 1917 wind-up gramophone, the kid's record player, the fake Rousseau, and last, but not least, Donna Reed!

You mentioned white colored electronics. Most HiFi components were usually made in either black or silver. It would be really be cool if they made hifi components such as home theater receivers and bookshelf systems in white.

There are still some cassette mechanisms that are still stereo, it’s luck of the draw I guess. Something with some of the modern tape recorders some will still record on a (safety tab out ) cassette I had I noticed it would record tab in or removed.

Does it have humming noise of motor in music playback when using alkaline batteries? I want to buy one as i have dozens of old cassettes (even tdk original sealed and empty cassettes lying in cabinet since decades and now want to use them to feed my nostaligia.)😅

The built-in mike doesn't sound too bad for dc bias. I wonder what it sounds like when you record the radio.

Hi loved your video its was very informative, was wondering if i could record external audio from like say my phone thru aux on this player to a cassette? I really want to make my own mixtapes
@Recordology3 жыл бұрын
In theory! However the input on this is mic level which means the other device volume would need to be set pretty low.

I'm sorry, but the ClearClick device has a tapehead that's mono in both directions. It looks like a stereo head, but, the head doesn't flip like in an older auto-reverse deck.
@Recordology2 жыл бұрын
If you look closely you will see that the ClearClick has a four track head….stereo in both directions.

@douglasallen94283 жыл бұрын
Not too bad, though I have to ask why more and more cassette players and recorders are in mono rather than stereo... but overall, you could still do far worse than this thing!!!
@retekessradio17142 жыл бұрын
I seem to recall that playing stereo tapes required a more complex structure of the player, which increased the probability of player failure. Once the player is damaged it may eat your tape.

Having that speaker right next to your cassette can't be good for your tapes. Looks just like the unit techmoan dissected just different label. If somebody can come out with something that sounds as good as a deck from the early 90s they'll get my money.

Cassette 👌 players with 📻 radios? These came from my days. I think Retekess is newer. You're going back to my years, when cassettes, and these little cassette players were all the rage. They were available with, or without the AM/FM 📻 radio. Some were even a cassette recorder, and were considerably more expensive, depending on brand, and/or quality. Even some of them had an AM/FM 📻 radio. I really didn't 👀 see that the Retekess had a cassette player, or recorder. I already 👌 know it has a radio. Todderbert does 📹 videos on tons of these Retekess 📻 radios. I 👍 like his 📹 videos, but he plays the EXACT SAME thing on VERY DIFFERENT 📻 radios, on EVERY 📹 video. It is VERY ANNOYING. I want to comment him if he can change to more random 🎶 music. I cannot explain why, but it really bothers me, to where I have to turn the volume down, or discontinue 👍 listening. It's a little like trying to play a song 5000 times a day for an entire year. It's the first thing since KZbin to bother me so much. I really 👍 like the "beefy" look of the Retekess. Your friend, Jeff.

Now please tell my why people would still want these in 2021 because I fail to see why consumers would want these cheap cassette players when we've progressed so far past this obsolete technology. And I do not like white, let's go with black, silver or gray next time.

Because some people have a lot of tapes. It may not be much, but it is more precious. They want to hear those voices again.

Works well as a portable recorder for musicians and gives everything a warm Lo-Fi charm. Plus you can use endless cassette tape loops for recording which is a whole other unique usage
