@Old Skool Bodybuilding Routines My friend, I will try to make some some sense for you. About five months ago a girl was raped on a train in Philadelphia. You can look it up on KZbin. There were a lot of nice harmless men standing by. Some of them were even filming the rape. Not one of those harmless men helped the girl. The good ,dangerous man would have intervened and not allowed the girl to be raped. Which man would you want around if your girlfriend, wife, sister, mother or grandmother ,was being harmed?

@leroi dupetrol Because no one is completely harmless, at least not in every situation, and so the fact that someone is pretty harmless now is no guarantee that they won't be harmful in the future. This lecture taught me that, not only are we built to overcome massive amounts of trauma and change, but that it could be redeemed and purposed for good. For my wife, it taught her that she is now different. Set apart from others. And that that is ok and it is up to her to find how to work that for good.

Yeah, this interview is assuming a lot of myths regarding "enlightenment." A person can be enlightened and still have years of shadow/ego work to go through. The ego can still influence an "enlightened" person, and there are many pitfalls after an initial realization of one's true nature, ones true identity as the all that is, as the emptiness. There is a never ending unfolding, the "work" is never done. Integrating "spirit" and humanity is never ending. They should interview Ekhart Tolle or Adyashanti, or one of so many enlightened teachers that are out there today! Not that JP isn't enlightened, I often think that if he isn't already, he's well on his way. But he doesn't claim it as his wheelhouse. Then again no enlightened teacher would ever say it directly, but they normally speak of how they had an energetic shift and change from personal to universal identity, etc.
@jacobxa4 жыл бұрын
Plenty say it directly. To do otherwise is to beat around the bush and is most unhelpful. If someone doesn’t claim to be awakened, there’s no reason to think they are (generally; there may be some exceptions)

@jesuschristlovingyou2 жыл бұрын
Did it work
@John_Conner2222 жыл бұрын
@@jesuschristlovingyou Well not really. The problem isn't within the argument itself being true. The problem is that people live in their own bubble and when you show them truth that breaks their narrative they panic because they realize that they have built a foundation on what they thought they knew. So some serious fear sets in and they panic. Their chosen method is just to attack you (the one bringing in provable truth) since you seem the smaller threat than dealing with the actual situation. It's where society is as a whole, especially after decades of mass media and college brainwashing. Still the information works like a shield, like a crucifix or a garland of garlic to ward a vampire away temporarily.
@jesuschristlovingyou2 жыл бұрын
@@John_Conner222 I don't know, I think people have always been like this. Maybe that's why there is such an advantage in being kind. Organized society, miraculously, makes kindness and altruism an option; sometimes even necessary to be successful against the alternative of being constantly competitive with one another. What I'm discovering though is that understanding actually brings sorrow, and your comment makes me think that you have a lot of revelations about people that end up being disappointing, ultimately. That's just a guess, but only because this so far is my common experience with people. That used to make me resentful towards people in general, but more and more, I'm beginning to cultivate compassion towards everyone along this line. I think the point that Peterson makes about good people needing to be dangerous is that ability to bite taking a back seat to being a good person, which firmly grips the wheel at all times lest goodness loses control and we become uncontrollably dangerous instead. Goodness so far in life, was easy to develop as a child, difficult to maintain as an adult, and very very difficult to get back once I've surrendered it for the sake of being temporarily dangerous. Maybe I'm meandering and this doesn't resonate at all. But the panultimate revelation I've received in facing this world is the simple knowledge that love always knows what to do in every situation. And though people have failed me in the face of that, this has never failed me personally. Much love my man.
@John_Conner2222 жыл бұрын
@@jesuschristlovingyou Absolutely correct in every way. The part that was hard for me to understand is why everyone mistook my kindness for weakness, because every fear of every person is a perception of their projections. The amount of cruelty I have received in my lifetime was pretty significant. I'm a fairly beefy guy well over 6'ft stocky with lots of muscle and years of various martial arts experience. I'm like why on earth do people not only think they can poke me like poking a hungry lion with a stick but they get mad when they wake up the beast and I defend myself. I would say a good number of people are still stuck in a traumatic nightmare of high school, lashing out at everything. Love truly does conquer all and it definitely conquers fear but you must be grounded and resilient yourself or otherwise be consumed in the process.

@Popcornkernal292 жыл бұрын
It’s ok to do good things for people. But you have to be aware of how much it is reciprocated. It doesn’t mean don’t do things for people that don’t do things for you. It means be aware of who is appreciative and give back vs those that just take. Just focus on yourself to a near selfish point. What i mean is focus on your career, improve or develop meaningful relationships along this self work journey. If you are single that’s actually perfect for self improvement as a guy. Women are great but shouldn’t be a priority over yourself. Still approach and talk to them though. Remember that if you approach 1 random woman a month for 3 years, you would have approached more women than over 80% of guys to in their lifetime. Men reach their peak usually around 40 when it comes to attention from women because those men are established and show traits of a leader they learned from working and learning. You aren’t born with value, but you are born with nearly unlimited potential. You have to work for it now to get it later. Stay strong and i hope i helped somehow. Side note exercise, you will literally stand above the majority of people if you are in above average shape. All if this builds competence which builds confidence and that makes you the most attractive you can be naturally. Adversity builds character.

Many bad guys will take ur words as excuses to do bad, who defines the "when" and "with who" u can be bad. An american soldier for instance can kill a kid in midle east thinking he is a good man doing bad things for good purpose. how do u define him mr peterson ?
@Popcornkernal292 жыл бұрын
Soldiers usually feel remorse for the enemy but with child soldiers remorse can get you killed. Unfortunately morals don’t have a large play in life or death decisions.

Milosevic part of the Soviet Union? This in a point about someone else's historical ignorance. That's some good irony right there.
@imperialguardsman31544 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I dont know if he meant that Milosevic as part of Soviet Union or the time when Milosevic visited Soviet Union. Again, why Milosevic is labeled as a bad guy, when he was proven innocent by UN court?
@KECKOOOOO4 жыл бұрын
Serbia was on the side of the USSR, Milošević was the president. He was not proven innocent, he died during trial which in den Haag is a long ass process. Might be biased because my parents fought in the war, but I know a lot more than most of the world about that topic.

While it was a good snippet it didn't give no answer to why People are not enlightened. Rather it was an inspiration to incorporate your dark side in order to grow. But to become enlightened you need to transcend the concept of both, good and evil. I think the real answer might be this: The route to enlightenment is simply fucking difficult and takes your entire lifetime while challenging you to do the opposite of what society upholds as valuable.

Mr. Peterson I think that the very very dangerous side of a good man is in fact some evil that a lot of us try to balance with the good. It's interesting to wonder if evil is still evil in the hands of a good man with a good cause. Maybe it doesn't matter as long as we get the right job done. Any thoughts?

Well, a weapon can defend a country, but it can also destroy one. Sometimes at the same time, like when the U.S bombed Japan with nuclear weapons.

For alien vampires (greed/hate) to comprehend earthling human beings (hearts/love) is like black holes in space trying to comprehend the stars (light and warmth) that "they" suck out of the heavens (joy, beauty and harmony).

I love J.P, however he cannot talk about this topic as he isn't enlightened and liberated from the separate self/ego/person himself, and neither am I so far and certainly not people in the comments, which is quite easy to tell. The answer on this topic from someone who is actually liberated, a full fledged human /( Sadhguru for example, and many more ), would be entirely different, and for good reason. Jung was brilliant too, but still a "mere man", the "human" part of the human Being. They haven't lived as the "Being" we are for one single day in their lives, and for myself, I've only touched and tasted it a handful of times, but not sustained it. And yes for you guys in the comments saying "enlightenment doesn't last". If you are enlightened, it will never ever go back. Quite an easy tell for those of you who actuallly looked into yoga/meditation/advaita vedanta/zen/tao and so on, and also meditated in this ' way '. In short, these 4 minutes are coming from an ego perspective, albeit a very intellectual one.
@TerryLightfoot4 жыл бұрын
You are so right. They clearly are speaking of a mythic enlightenment. They don't really "know" or haven't listened to actual enlightened people, of which we now have a plethora on KZbin. They describe enlightenment as never ending, a constant unfolding, continual work and integration of spirit and form, even after that initial realization. In this interview they assume the work all happens before and never after. If only!

You mean Sadghuru = enlightenment = reincarnation? Pathetic. If reincarnation was real everyone would have been enlightened already. You missed the first 15 seconds.

@@JonasAnandaKristiansson Enlightenment is the end of suffering BECAUSE you get satisfied and comfortable. But what happens when--- lets say a god threatens you. You're weak, pathetic and their play thing. All because you became a glutton. 1 enlightened soul= 1 sun. 1 base god, a demi-god= 10 million suns. Always hungry, never satisifed is the way to go. You should starve yourself but feed yourself. Don't become a glutton and don't give into your raw power, because there's always a bigger fish. ..Well except me, i'm indestructible on a spiritual level so i can do as i please XD

"You bloody well better have the imaination for that kind of evil, then someone else will. And the one who does wins." Exactly. Fucking exactly. To borrow a Potter quote... "It was once my job to think as the Dark wizards do Karkaroff, and perhaps you should remember." I know how to be evil as can get. That means I can well figure out how to put that same evil down.
