NA Data Center mentor here - I'm running 500 mentor roulettes on each Data Center to get a good amount of data on how different each DC is. I haven't completed collecting all the data (1,500 runs so far). What I can say with confidence is that Dynamis is mostly MSQ/ARR dungeons with over 100 of the 500 runs being MSQ roulette duties. Aether was a mixed bag of everything with a lot of guild hests. Primal has been the highest amount of Extremes/Alliance raids. Crystal is my last one but based on the 40 or so runsI've done it looks like it might be more like Aether with "a little bit of everything". I've found that the BEST job to run mentor is Summoner, the damage and raise capability at low level can carry any party. Good luck on your mentor journey! I liked the final clip :)

i logged the last 1000 (and change, for failures/leaves) burger king kid roulette pops for my mount and while i only started tracking the role i queued as towards the end my anecdotal evidence is that it strongly influences the types of duties you land in. just something to keep in mind if you aren't already tracking it. primal dc does seem to like their extreme trials, tho, i think i ended with about 80/1000. the vast majority of those were successful, too!

Primal DC here: I have done my 2000 roulettes and it DID take me a long time, it took me 4 years in fact. Based on my data I've gotten mostly dungeons, with a little more than 1200 being something I'd have gotten in one of the dungeon roulette categories. This was also BEFORE the splitting of Prae into parts though, with Castrum or Prae coming up a grand total of 32 times. Trials (both EX and non EX) appeared a little less than 300 times that were COMPLETED. I didn't keep track of ones that failed, but there were several, probably at least 20 failed cuties including Dungeons, EX trials, and Guildhests. Also, as for 0 second replaces, another thing that CAN be the cause of that is someone actually DCing during load in. I've both been the person who didn't load in and seen it several times. One more fun fact. In the party menu, (P on keyboard), if someone has the mentor icon there they got into the duty VIA Mentor Roulette, so you can tell who has come in that way!

Only 32 msq roulettes?! That is quite surprising! Indeed, you are forced to wear the combat mentor crown as well when doing mentor roulette, so any combat mentors (the one with the sword and crown) are almost guaranteed to come from mentor roulette! 😁

Thordan EX was one of only 2 Mentor Roulettes I've ever failed to clear out of 524 so far. That includes several Ramuh EX and Leviathan EX clears. The other fail was just Rathalos EX after someone got salty on the first wipe and everyone else followed them out. It's pretty painful really. You'll want to hope you have as few sprouts in the group as possible if you want any hope of actually clearing the Thordan. I was MT, but our OT was a sprout that just couldn't learn and execute the mechanics right and constantly ended up dead when they needed to be holding the other add in the first add phase. We were getting nowhere and people just agreed to disband after like 30 minutes of never clearing that first add phase.

Yeah I can imagine. A core thing that this zurvan group kept holding on to is that we were getting results, we were getting further, we were getting better. Because if we were stuck, what's the point right? That's often where people give up! From my memory my only failed ones have been the thordan in the video, and then ages ago a sephirot, where we timed out. Like we tried but couldn't make it! I've heard many say that heavensward is around when extremes start to become too difficult to learn in one session! 😅

This is kinda exactly what would I expect in thordan ex. But my reality is completely different weirdly enough i am 5/7 on Thordan, I think that because transitions are super long, you are always guaranteed to get echo and that trivialises everything together with high ilvl. My big tip is to always use A - B - C markers for spear (healers/dps/offtank), otherwise people just don't really get it how to do that mechanic

Would love it if you made a series out of this! Format like this is fine, the spoiler warnings are perfect too! Love seeing how you give feedback too, it helps me personally how I can give feedback to others (need to consider the tos too, so asking if they want help is a great solution). Congrats on that Zurvan extreme clear^^ Just some personal observations from my side. I've loaded in Aumaurot quite a few times when doing 50/70/80 roulette as a replacement. I think it can be quite a difficult dungeon for first timers. Maybe that puts people off (?). Whenever I go in as smn I usually end up rezzing too😅 People going extra on shields in shb (and up) dungeons I can recall from my earlier days when learning healing in that expansion. What I felt from going to stb to shb was that it was much harder (as was intended by the devs I believe). And being careful and seeing a tank that knows how to properly mit those dungeons puts me at ease too and then easing up is maybe better. Still, having a drk in shb and up that doesn’t use tbn always makes me scream xD Recently I started mentor roulette too! After your first vid I actually felt comfortable to do it myself. Usually I go as healer or ranged/caster dps. Tanking makes me feel uncomfortable, I'm not a good tank. A few times I have encountered "bad" duties with angry people or mentor haters. But I try to stick to the positive experiences I had in mentor roulette! One was, funnily enough, Copperbell Mines Hard. We had a new tank and 2 dps who just didn’t remember the dungeon (can't blame them). It felt nice to help and teach the mechanics and in the end we all had a good time. Another fun one was the moogle extreme which I joined as a replacement healer. They were 15 minutes in and knew nothing. I was the only mentor, but everyone tried their best to follow my advice and after a few wipes we actually cleared! Since this comment is already way too long I'll stop now. My apologies xD. I'm on Shiva (Light) btw

I like these two Videos. It's also a way to bring up some common mistakes (in a helpful way) and point to interesting other stuff/Videos. I don't think there is any particular ordering needed unless it would make sense for elaborating a point or avoid having the same, negative issue back to back. But since you're usually always comment very respectful I don't think the later could be an issue and you'd then skip over it. I guess, you plan to do at least a 3rd one as DPS? There, at least on Light, you'd probably get the much talked amount of guildheists. Although sometimes I get none and just Dungeons back to back. My Roulettes are going fine, at around 1.300 now. Seeing examples for good ways to give feedback in your Videos is helpful for me, thanks Recently had two days In a row were I got tsukuyomi EX. I didn't expect it to be clearable with how long it took me with a group of other first timers to learn it. But we did it both times thanks to good and helpful Mentors and sprouts. I'm close to getting the rathalos mount by mostly mentor roulettes. It's sad when it's ARR Extremes and it's like 6 Mentors 2 Sprouts and instead of actually doing any mechanics it's just damaging through it, maybe with the sprouts dead or them not seeing anything difficult happen as simply the Mentors handle it fine (Garuda, Ultima Weapon). But also many times there are sprouts that actually are prepared and it's fun to help them figure stuff out and get through it. Good to see it happend for you as well. Gratz on the first synced Zurvan clear figuring out a good way to handle the tethers and explaining it is hard! Or showing people how helpful some slight prepositioning can be as communication.

I completed my 2000 mentor roulette achievement last year, (on Chaos DC) and i got a mix bag of duties. I got a lot of ARR and HW extreme trials, Id say Ramuh and Thordan were the most common for me. The only Warring Triad ex i got was failed runs Sephirot, and nothing else. STB, it was just Rathalos really and one Lakshimi. I must have been extremely lucky with not getting other STB extremes and SHB ones. I wish you the best with your mentor roulette grind!!

I'm a mentor from Chaos DC, Phantom Server. So far I've done little over 50 Mentor roulettes total, always as a tank. Mostly I've ended up in dungeons, only a few times into older extreme trials, such as The Striking Tree. When I ended up there, I hardly remembered all the things, even though I had cleared it synced before. But for a tank, Striking tree becomes doable, if you only remember to collect three lightning orbs to get the defensive buff from lightning damage, and do a tankswap, when your buff is about to run out. Few times I've ended up in a dungeon, where the rest of the party are first timers. One particular case was The Dead Ends. This dungeon is pretty notorious due to its bosses, as they are pretty mechanical heavy, and most of them can be an instant death if done incorrectly. We wiped in the first boss twice before it finally fell, and the second boss was the same story. On the third boss, I was surprised that we only wiped once, even though it is the most notorious. When the dungeon was finally cleared, I looked at the timer and saw that it took over 50 minutes to clear it, the longest time I've ever been in any dungeon. But it was worth it. It felt good to help those guys clear it.

I learned and did Zurvan mine just yesterday so this video came out at the perfect time. If you're curious, you can reliably skip soar even there with a normal party comp as long as everyone is hitting their buttons. If the boss is at or below 81% in phase 1 you'll almost certainly skip.

​​@@CaetsuChaijiChYeah. Part of it is that. The other part is how item level sync actually works. mine and synced don't proportionally scale your item substats but rather cap the MAX substat. So if your item is +20 crit +10 determination and the item level cap is +10, you'll go in with +10 crit and +10 determination. This means bringing in items from an expansion newer will have all your secondary substats capped out as if they were primary substats. Also food only gets capped on its bonuses up to two expansions newer. So bringing in current food to older content makes you stronger than period accurate food.

I'm on primal with about 700 mentor roulettes done. I seem to get more guildhests when I queue as dps. I think this is because a lot of players farming commendations for pve mentor repeatedly queue guildhests as tank or healer, which ends up leaving a lot of open dps guildhest slots.

I'm on Crystal/Diabolos and I'm currently around 90 roulettes deep. Mine have gone decently well, many times I get a quick 2-3 minute guildhest, but that is offset by an ARR extreme where there is a lot of teaching going on.

Zurvan EX was the last unreal trial before the current one (Thordan Unreal) so I think the mechanics where still fresh enough in some peoples minds

This is possible, although the only players in the group that seemed to actually know anything about the fight beforehand was the main tank, and the sprout astrologian as they outright said they viewed a guide beforehand! 😅 But Indeed, in the previous video I made like this, we managed to do Shiva ex first try because among others, I remembered doing it unreal, so this could be a significant factor!

I’m a new FF player working through shadowbringers now, so I am almost always seeing the dungeon for the first time. I gave up trying to get a support role through because of all the comments that I should be attacking more with a healer or pulling more with a tank. It’s rough to learn new mechanics and a new character and optimize play all at the same time. I prioritize staying alive, which means I am missing gcd’s and struggling with targeting because I am trying to watch everything all at once to make sure I don’t miss a mechanic’s tell. After staying alive I work on my primary job duty- healing for a healer and positioning/managing aggro on a tank, and only after that am I really thinking about doing damage. I am a transfer from ESO where I was a high end trial leader for several years, and I will say the FF random duty community is much more supportive than ESO was, but it’s still frustrating to be doing something for the first time and struggling just to not get killed by mechanics and having people tell me on a support role that I need to be doing more damage. Like I said, I gave up, and am only queuing on my bard even though I am maining DRK for all the solo duties. I never do the random roulettes on any role, even though I know there’s a lot of xp there. My plan is to learn the various duties thoroughly on dps and only then consider going in on supports. I do appreciate tips before and after pulls. I want to learn this stuff- I am enjoying FF and look forward to getting into the higher end content. But frankly I am not even looking at the chat box during pulls, though.

It all comes with practice of course, and while some players for some reason expect it to come immediately, I think most players are understanding especially when it is a sprout still leveling 😊 It makes sense you'd need time to read advice between fights, whenever I give advice like in this video, I ask the group to wait a moment because obviously the person needs to be able to read and respond 😊

mentor roulette is filled with guildhests AS DPS. I've done around 200 as healer, 600 as tank and another 300 as dps and around 200 of those as dps were guildhests and another roughly 20 guildhests on the other roles. they're nice if you're just after achievement progress i guess but i prefer other content tbh. edit: another few things: the actual rarest type of content were Alliance Raids. i think i got around 5 of them in total and ALWAYS 0 minutes in progress. i didn't keep track of exact numbers so they might be a little off. i'm on chaos too

(EU light 1330/2000) My update for this week of mentor roulete is that I finally changed "the latest seriously tried ex", it went from Shiryu ex(which we somehow cleared but it was alpha legend and 7 mentors, lol) to Tsuki ex. Sadly we run out of time and only got to second stone dropping phase, I think we would get clear in like two or three more tries

I also tend to forget to give Dragon's Eye to someone else, but mainly because trying to double weave and quickly target a party member on controller is... difficult. I've seen some people have success with using a focus target macro, but then you risk the timing being off by 0.1 seconds or being unable to use the skill at all if your designated partner is KO'd

I'm still running through ShB MSQ myself, but I wanted your opinion on something. When a sprout tries to do a older EX, should they just wait till they can bulldoze it unsynced? I tried to do a few earlier synced, but the last one, Rathalos EX, I got yelled at by a party member for wanting to do it synced when it's soloable now (maybe 90, but I don't have that yet >.>) I looked up how to do beforehand, cause I didn't wanna be a burden, but... idk?

Hmm, if you are doing an extreme for the sake of clearing it, it is sometimes just easier to unsync it 😊 But if you are doing an extreme for the challenge, then synced is the only way of course. However, if you are not on the free trial, you can host a party finder group (not to be confused with queueing with duty finder), which would allow you to find like-minded individuals that might be more prepared for the challenge 😁 The reason some people react like that person you mentioned, is because when it comes to extremes, if you queue for them alone with duty finder, then you will land in a group with others who chose to queue for that specific duty, AND mentors queueing for mentor roulette. That is to say, the mentors might sometimes be less keen on a challenge like this. If you are queueing for an extreme to farm something (like a mount) I highly recommend doing it unsynced. I hope this makes sense 😅

The only criticism that comes to mind feels, rather ironically, pretty nitpicky, which is that it felt nitpicky to bring up the Scholar in Copperbell Hard using Ruin rather than Art of War and auto-attacks. While I enjoy minding such details and appreciate the players who do, I can't categorize not doing so as an error.

I'm actually rather curious if there are any mentor results that you would personally leave the instance. Additionally if you are looking for feedback, maybe advising people on best practices for helping in Extremes from the roulette. I resolved to making simplified instruction macros for common extremes and would ping them in chat after every wipe. Granted my data center is Crystal and people there are not known to be good at this sort of content in general.

I don't think there's any duty I could land in where I would leave without giving it a chance. But if it is clear it ain't happening, and no progress is being made, there is certainly a higher chance I would give up 😅 Yeah if I got enough of specific extremes or otherwise difficult duties it would probably make good sense to have the short version ready in a macro! 😊

For sage aggressive shielding One attack using addressing, when is gained from shield breaking, So they were probably aoe, shield, AOE ,shield, aioe shield I would do that as well

I mean, having to set up the shield itself costs an attack, so alternating in that way sounds extremely excessive in the situations shown in the video 😅 Even though the shield breaking gives one use of toxikon, using shield and then toxikon is less damage than using dosis twice or dyskrasia twice, so I don't recommend that approach 😅

@@CaetsuChaijiCh I've had to put shields on a tank spammingly because several tanks just didn't mitigate And one day I ran with my bf on a off current content dungeon, where the lala tank just refused to mitigate, and use its invuln (lala and drk), it got so low it just wouldn't use its invuln at all I've had my share of tanks who won't miti if there's a shielder, and both me and my bf have had tanks not use miti and invuln if there's a pure healer Data centers have different people's, my dc apparently has lalas who think they are God mode,

yoshida please. after 2000 mentor make mentor extreme. i'm running out of things to do. 1500/2000 here on elemental. 70 to 80 extreme, never seen one except rathalos. Mentors are so good sometimes we just carry extremes and usually there are 4 mentors. LV50 ex are mostly clearable. LV60, it's sephirot, nidhogg most of the time not cleared. Zurvan, I don't get much but I do remember clearing once, probably because skipping lots of the tower phase. I've done most ex sync, so I just need to focus on max dps. That's why I only go as dps. Kill it fast before anything serious comes up. I skipped lv80 ex the dye job gear glam, because didn't want the rewards lol. missed the fun.

TBH is surprising when WAR can't solo something. After grinding achievs with all tanks is hilarious the amount of stuff you can get away with that job compared to something like DRK.

That is very true, if a warrior can't do it when they have raw intuition it is often a case of "only blue mage can" or "no one can" 😅

Did you know you could solo the first boss of Amourant as a Scholar? 0/10 do not recommend but it’s pretty fun and funny to hear the others freaking out as you see a person with a fairy and a book smacking it around.

People actually force the lab raid by going wkth a character that cannot get any other raid and then drop them. Now that the ilevel trick doesnt work if i recall. Being so lazy as to literally pay another player to "rent them" for the purpose. A lot of these instant drops is people trying to get only the fastest roulette. ...also surprised you do extremes. Last time i was in one in roulette the mentor spent five minutes swearing at us for daring to run one.

The ideal location to tank the Bone Dragon is south, at the entrance so anyone who might have been lagging behind can enter combat faster. It genuinely saves like 15-30 seconds depending on how impatient the tank is.
