I truly respect your posts and videos you provide because I absolutely love this Gorilla family. I just don't see what others are talking about when they say Gentaro loves his foster dad. When Gentaro first sees him he runs towards him and hits the glass saying go away, he doesn't have a happy expression on his face nor stays around trying to communicate with him. Gorillas show great emotion when seeing a loved one they haven't seen in a long time. Koko even spoke on sign language what she felt. Bobo hugged and smiled even the apes that remembered Dian Fossey, or Gorillas that lived with Jane Goodall showed real happiness and joy. Gentaro shows immense happiness and joy when playing with his brother. I didn't see that at all and seemed to avoid eye contact with him . He has more interaction with the caretakers than that guy. He fed Gentaro and played with him like a human baby not a gorilla and I think Gentaro understands the difference. Yet Gentaro has some humanlike gestures that he'll carry with him. He looked up where Genki was after hitting the glass. You know even Gentaro's dad missed out on bonding with him. Low land silverback Gorillas bond with the children too.

I've watched it and it makes you realize their needs are just like humans. Gentaro needs to feel special. He rarely gets it from his mother and he is too close to full grown for Gentaro. He know his brother loves him and though he gets jealous sometimes he knows without a doubt his brother loves him and the playing isn't so rough. His affection and desire to play with him is important. Gentaro and makes him feel part of the family. The endorphins that are released when they are playing and touching each other bring them closer. Gentaro can still be angry and jealous but much less than he used to be. They are important to each other.

Obviously Gentaro has abandonment issues that could be solved in part by interacting with his surrogate parent. If he can't be satisfied with the broken attachment when he was removed from his mother who was replaced by the human why not use the human to give Gentaro his emotional and psychological needs. This is a very interesting and captivating video. Gorillas are so much like humans. Unlike humans they are peaceful animals. Like humans, they are intelligent enough to know when they are being held in captivity. Knowing they are not free, I wonder just how happy they actually are. Not very many human animals would be happy if they were being held in captivity with their family and a few friends, even though they are treated with kindness and care and all of their needs are taken care of and they constantly being gazed upon by humans. I think it would be a very sad and claustrophobic existence.

Thank you to the videographer! I am not surprised to see Gentaro's response when seeing his temporary father. On the other hand, Gentara's attacks his Mom...again. Why is the zoo continuing to keep Gentaro where he can continuedly harass his Mom? Think of what she goes thru physiologically every day? Momotauro was a father when he was the same age as Gentaro. Everyone loves Ginki, her life has been like "hell" since 01/02/2019. We only see a tiny segment daily, imagine what is going on the other 23 hours of a day? I will hate to see Gentaro transferred, hopefully his new home will post videos. It was not just Ginki Gentaro attacked, he was constantly watching for the right time to "loot" Kintaro. It is amazing he is alive. I will say he has had some payback for his shenanigans from Kintaro. It is Ginki that is still having to constantly watch out by a drop down or a run by attack. Once again, what do you think her blood pressure is doing? Should fans selfishly hope for Gentaro to stay?

Many people have criticised this boy, they don’t have any idea what’s like to be treated like second class, or being treated like you’re nobody. People, have commented some dreadful things about Gentaro molesting Kintaro. They are animals and what’s norm for them it’s a taboo to us. All, I can say don’t humanised them, because, they are still animals and they have the purest heart. They are one of the good thing left in this planet. Humans have been known to engaged with sibling intimacy. Perhaps our genetics make up still influence our biomedical make up in many ways. However, humans behave appallingly in comparison to animals. They don't inbreeding or engage in homosexual or sibling reproduction but they have choices. Many animals do not inbred when the have options. I saw Momo and Genki has a moment that looked very productive. I hate to think if she has a female child. She will have 3 males after her about the same age as Kentaro Gentaro and their dad began having sexual play. Unfortunately if they don't get a bigger set up and more non related females it is not going to be representative of life in nature. There is a great story about a gorilla and his males taking over a troop of females and was the dominant male for 30 years. His name was Titus and its a fascinating story about a real troop of wild gorillas.

Honestly it seems Gentaro may have felt ignored in this video leading to outburst. Not saying his foster dad did it on purpose as he was doing his job. But Gentaro kept looking for someone to engage with, and everyone kinda ignored him. His parents, Kintaro, Foster dad and the other zookeeper Gentaro said hi to as well (he did a quick glass knock). They all ignored him in the space of a short time ( not their fault ) and it definitely irritated Gentaro which you see as the video goes on. So it's interesting to see how his outbursts start. As another commenter said, he needs engagement from his loved ones to diffuse the anger and jealousy he sometimes feels.

Was it ever explained why it took 10 months for Kintaro to be given back to Genki? It just seemed as though the foster dad was more interested in walking around with Kintaro. Even if Genki wasn't producing milk, it seemed too long but I'm not an expert.

I'm getting very upset with these people in Japan that keep these gorrilas for money. I don't see them giving much affection to these animals. They should be replaced with professional zoologist's and physical anthropologists who devote their lives to the wellbeing of species like this. I think the foster father is a heartless POS. Gentaro runs up to say hello , sits down in front of him and he turns and walks away . This is one of the reasons why gentaro is aggressive with his mother and father . Nobody pays attention to or plays with him except kintaro .
