You can buy the extender here: amzn.to/2To0TWa

Thanks for the tip. I did what you suggested, but also what I did for the bottom was fold the gutter guard in half . It's stiff enough to hold stuff from falling out. It worked out well.

Very nice mod! Thanks for posting this. I am going with this idea! One word of advise: Remove those self tapping galvanized screws one at a time and replace with aluminum pop rivets. Because the steel screw and the galvanized coating mixed with the aluminum bed extender is a perfect combination for dissimilar corrosion. The aluminum being the softest of the three metals will loose the battle first. If ya want to keep the metal screws permanently, a wet seal must be used to keep 100% of any moisture from getting to the contact areas of the screws and aluminum.

Had one of these, ended up just replacing it with a couple of tow ropes from Walmart to secure a load. This extender is good to have until you need to load something large that extends past your bed then this just becomes something extra to lug around. Mesh idea was cool though.

Great idea and nicely executed. I think if you used black rivets instead of self tapping screws it would of looked even cleaner. It be really easy to rivet them in since you already have the holes there from the self tappers. And rivets won’t stick out as much as the screws. You might just have to clean them up a little with a drill. But still an awesome idea. And you can probably just run another really slim piece of the netting down the bottom with the rolled edge out so it gives it more rigidity and maybe put an adhesive rubber or foam (Lowe’s door seal) on bottom to protect from damaging the bed and reduce rattling. I’m about to pick up a new tundra and I’m definitely doing this to mine.

I have the traditional tool box you see 99% of the time. I’m thinking of getting a tri fold bed cover with a bed extender like yours. With the extender folded in and tri fold down, you think there’s enough room for a couple tool bags to nest right in there? I’m a builder and just have my normal tool bag, bag of battery operated extra tools, bag of paint cans, and my punch box. I think this could be the ideal set up for me and still have room for my step ladder.

Your extender looks very similar to mine, (for a 2919 Ford Ranger XLT Lariat) and I’m hoping that the gutter protection screening will fit as well as yours does. (I’m also hoping that Lowe’s still has this brand after 3 yrs! 😃) I’m a retired Paramedic and quite a novice doing projects like this- do you happen to remember the price of these screens? TY!
