In the area where I build by base close to the tower of bats there is a ton of iron ore. And there are also a lot rock noses. I always suspected that the iron ore looked like giant turds produce by the rock noses, my suspicions were right. 😀

I think an updated version of this video could be done, especially since the article on the Economics of Rocknoses on the Official Conan Exiles Wiki mention this video and both seems to be outdated in some way. From what I could see in the current version of the game the default time of the resource processing cycle of the rocknose has been changed and the tier of the animal pen seems to alters it even further. There may be good information to gather for those interested in investing the time and resource to make a rocknose farm.

I came to this video from that article still. I wanted to see why an article on the wiki says "he got it all wrong because of admin commands"... While it gives much better information, the writer of that article can't seem to separate opinion from facts. All passive productions are designed to help casual players, not hardcore. If you can play 4-8 hours/day, resource producing pets (and planters too) simply aren't worth it. But if you play 1-4 hours/day average, having access to an hour or two of 'free resources farmed' is massive. Re: this video, I would say that the primary strength of the rocknose is WHERE you farm silver and gold at. You can get so much ichor just clearing the spider caves, and their central location means that no matter where your personal base is, they aren't too inconvenient. In contrast, the silver/gold farming is primarily at the very far SE corner of the map in the deep water - which if your base is not in the jungle area means a long trek just to get there before you can even start farming.

Not OP for it due to the size of the pet station and anyone can take from it. It only makes alpha tribes on servers stronger at best you need with stable times of 1x 7 full stations of rocknoses to produce enough crystal to not worry about it.

Useful video as always! Very concise. Helped me plan out certain things, (which of course saves resources on it's own). I just don't understand why everyone is saying, 'dude, not op.' like dude, it's a whole separate system to literally farm resources! How is that not a great thing?!

It's the difference between players based on how much they play. The more you play, the less amazing things like this are. The people who say pet resource production sucks are the same ones who build 5 greater wheels because they play so much that they can keep that many wheels full of t4 thralls for days straight.

Well, I thought that spiders would give you a spider web also, since that's how spiders work, but, anyway, ichor is a useful resource already. Also, it's probably would be awesome if wolfs or hyenas would give you a different type of meat, since they're predators, and can hunt, but it's just random thoughts)

if you have the baby pet already feeding to get tamed with the default time and you change the values, you need to remove the baby pet and put it again with the new values. happened to me until i realized that, like 3-4 hours of waiting until i decided to do that out of pure boredoom and got mi instant pet

really? ichor? that shit is super easy to obtain. Getting that blue looking fish is enough. Jesus, they have so much potential with these pet system. im a bit disappointed that most of those pets are not animated. It basically a standing doll.

They're thralls that don't have to be kitted out in weapons and armor, and some of them eat common resources (plant fiber, bark, stone).

So ichor will be harder to get, fish traps will require bugs as fuel.

@@MarcBrown - Except neither of those happened. Using bugs just gives you more unappetizing fish at a faster rate. Because of this I don't have to use more than a hundred fish traps on single player.

You find shadebloom by harvesting bosses in jhebbal sag’s dungeon I think the area is called the midnight grove just search up how to get there and remember this, it’s a difficult dungeon

But once you place them on the ground, you can't put them back in the pen or any other station or container. So after you raise them, don't ever put them on the ground or you'll have to find another baby animal to raise. Just keep them on the animal pen for production with any specific food that allows them to generate/produce the resources you're looking to get from them.

Yea they will eventually run out. But like I said in the video you can just place them in the world to prevent losing them. However, if you want to farm with them then yes you will need to keep putting new ones in there.

To get goldstone or silverstone you have to make a dedicated farming trip. With gold and silver rocknoses, you can instead stick to harvesting the most abundant resource in the game. You'll also get tons of ironstone in the process.

no, it is only a few ironstone, and much lesser gold/silver, the thing he didn´t mention in this video is that it takes a ton of time to get through these cycles and the ridiculous amount of space it takes up, I would much rather make a small trip like every week instead of messing with those animal pens

The Rocknose are not OP, are useless. I spend 200 goldstone (Coins + Shadespiced Gold Dust) to get 1 single Gold-vein Rocknose. How much time this pet will take to return back this amount of gold? Just spend the time you need to get and tame they, mining iron and obsidian and you will get a bigger amount of resources.

In the short term?, yes you're absolutely right but in the long term you can give lets say 20k on stones and you get a considerable amount of gold

Also of note, shadespiced gold dust is NOT the best approach - it's cheaper to just use regular gold dust. If you do so, the average time to start seeing profit is about 9 days (real life days, with the server running). Setting up this kind of production is NOT cheap. But, especially on a PvE server, it is incredibly profitable in the long run. Having a pen each of gold and silver rocknoses going basically solves your gold and silver needs - and you only have to farm if taking on a particularly major project.

Yea but I do like the fact that you can take all that extra stone you have laying around or just go grab a bunch easy and convert it to iron. I think the rocknoses are the best thing to come from the pet patch.
