Carlos Santana has recently become my favorite guitarist. He is who I definitively want to play like

Awesome as always Marty. The story Carlos tells about Woodstock is hilarious…Anyone that hasn’t heard about the time he wrestled a snake while on stage should check it out 😵💫 What a performance it was🤘

Wow this really helped me playing lead. Till now I was just noodling but this video really helped me. This channel is, and has been one of the best and easiest ways to learn guitar in all aspects....great work. I love this channel..

Great lesson, Marty! That's two things you've done for me recently. 1. I bought a Katana Mk2 100, 2. You taught me how to mix Dorian with minor pentatonic. Muchas gracias!

I have been a wanna bee guitar player for years.. have all sorts of guitars and was only able to play single note songs.. I bought a very intense lets just say "Gibson" course that takes you through 18 months and it was difficult at times. Since I have bought and listened to Martys courses for whatever reason I seem to get it now.. Thanks Marty keep up the great work you are inspiring! Ron from GA!

I used to practice the pentatonic positions by putting on music (e.g., Roy Buchanan) and improvising to play along. I started doing this with some Satana music and I found I had to go outside of the pentatonic to play some of the riffs. So I found where the two additional notes were for a seven note scale and found what Santana was doing. I started printing out the pentatonic scale and then added the additional two notes to be ready to go beyond the pentatonic when improvising. 🤷🏻♂️ 👍🏻

Carlos likes Dorian and harmonic minor scales. Eas 4:26 y to blend the two, and you can change keys anywhere you desire.

Great video. Hey, I'm 68, playing guitar since 72, and recently found out, jimi hendrix, which is heard on he radio every day, could not write or read a stitch of music. I can can read and write tunes, but I've always kind of, been like jimi in my playing, taking it wherever it goes, like garcia did, cheers😂🎉!!!

When i was first discovering my love for music at 9/10 years old, Smooth by Santana ft. Rob Thomas had just come out and was a big hit. Still love that song to this day. I've always wondered how Santana makes his guitar sound so Mexican! Would love to hear you speak on that. Maybe touch on Henry Garza from Los Lonely Boys! Thank you for everything Marty!

It’s Latin influenced, not “Mexican.” 🙁

HI Marty, great lesson on Santana licks + Dorian scale, question how to you separate the looper playback (clean) from you lead playing, do you have the looper on the FX channel? guitar in front of the amp? Thanks Javier

I'm using an overdrive pedal before the looper in the chain and the amp is on the clean channel the entire time
