Tons of "street photographers" on You Tube, but sadly they are mainly gearheads or airheads. Matt Stuart, you have got it! You have the eye of Henri Cartier Bresson. I am certain he was your inspiration. He is mine too.

Oh, you have to love these classic "elitist" sentiments..... only Leica toting film shooters are "true" street shooters........rubbish!

Whilst I like most of his pix, they're all about content rather than form and so I'm not certain why he shoots film and makes it difficult for himself. Unless he likes it of course and he's used to it. It's an interesting argument cos on one side having to concentrate and look at things more closely because you know you only have one chance with film may actually mean you get a higher percentage of keepers compared to the ease with which you can shoot digital. But perhaps in digital you're not attuned to the world so well and end up missing great stuff. Interesting and I suppose it varies from person to person...

It’s a pretty old video and he is using digital these days, which he states in his How To Think Like A Street Photographer book. Really great read btw if you enjoy his work

It seems like all 'street photographers' use either a 28mm or 35mm lens. I consider myself a street photographer but I use only a 50mm or a 70mm lens, and, usually, the 70mm lens is my choice. Perhaps I only 'thought' I was a street photographer?

I use hyperfocal focusing as well, but I use it on my mirrorless camera. Good shots and I love seeing other street photographers at work.

Rambles with my camera I'll check them out. I live and shoot in China and Hong Kong. Accidentally got caught up in a parade for a religious group protesting chinese persecution and got to shoot them and their hecklers the other day.

Why not cameras have two lenses instead of 1 adjusted to closer focal length than the other lens? You don't need to change that if you have a camera like this. Leica make this happen.
@ismaelcastillo19557 жыл бұрын

@marcomilani83715 жыл бұрын
Yeah but only those kind of lenses "M mount" (Summicron and so on) are having that accurate scale.. They are designed to use "human autofocus". If you pick up some Canon lenses (which they are built to use the superfast AF), you don't have that kind of scale.
@g.scoponi10 жыл бұрын
i don't mean to be a party pooper but in some countries you need the permission of people before you take a picture of them. In some countries you can take their picture, but if need their permission before putting them on the web. i really love street photography, but unfortunately i don't have as much freedom as matt stuart seams to have in london. i think in germany laws are very protective too.

chris gomez spot on, in Spain, it’s not only illegal to take a photo of someone without permission, it’s actually written into their Constitution

@dayvz17719 жыл бұрын
Not sure what lens you're referring to, but there are faster lenses for example both versions of the noctillux. Back to the original point though, nobody would shoot at that aperture on the street if they're using hyperfocal distance so your comment is irrelevant.

ok

+Thomas Davies Yeah, that'd be very difficult to nail sharpness if any movement, but I'd try because the shot would be pretty cool depending on how you manage your background.

You call yourself a "street photographer" , better is "sneak photographer". Many people call themselves "street photograper" but the "photos" they make are mostly not interesting at all and most of these snap shots are made on a sneaky way with the intention of posting them on youtube or flickr etc. and make a story about "street photography" , it's pathetic.
