Yes, you really DO need to see this cathedral in person. Its wall and ceiling mosaics are overwhelming and dominate the entire scene. The most amazing church we saw in 3 months of touring Italy, apart perhaps from St Peter's in the Vatican.

I visited in 2018. I love how you explained the art history of Monreale. When I was there I was so in awe that I didn't listen much to our guide! I was too busy snapping photos. Still one of my favorite places on earth.
