Absolutely not ! Let's just concentrate on the human machine. Loads of people want to introduce phone alarms into the exercises. For me , it has always worked best not to ⏰

We can use our pain for body sensing. I had serious lower back pain for three days last week, and a work friend told me to use it for body sensing. I did, and the results were extraordinary. Please let me share a work quote with you which produces rather miraculous results in all circumstances......."will what it objects to". Doing so drastically changes the dynamics. Much love, Noel 🎆🐍🪜

@@thevisceralhag I'd say it's bringing the head and thinking process in alignment with the body so that there's is no separation between the intellectual center and the moving center. The aim is to bring all centers in alignment including the emotional one. Then something else can get through of a higher nature. Then the whole picture changes. Gurdjieff used to use a quote from scripture to drive this home....."When more than two are gathered in my name there I am amongst them". G's interpretation, the parts being gathered together are the moving, emotional and intellectual. The "There I am" is God., our common father creator never endlessness 🙏

Great observation , Squirrel Nutkin. This is it. The big boy. Attention. Nobody has it. But they can. Most , if not all , G's exercises have as an aim concentrated attention taken to the nth degree. This is the beginning of conscious will and the ability to do. One of the major aims of the work. One thing that struck me recently is this , G says in one of the chapters of the Wartime meetings (I forget which. Even though I've made a video about it 🙄 I'll find it and put the link in here ) the whole purpose of the reading of Beelzebub's tales is to develop a new attention. An attention that will carry over from the reading and have a massive impact in your daily life. At my last live stream , I spoke for over half-an-hour about the two independent consciousnesses , only for someone , immediately after , to refer to them as the two personalities!!! God give me strength. I soldier on. Annie Lou Staveley once famously said , "In most cases , this work goes in one ear and straight out the other one." Beelzebub is such an amazing book, stuffed with so much, serious humor and so much more, a true, heartfelt wake-up call that can reconfigure the way we see many everyday things. What an egg to crack! I was amazed at how many Fourth Wayers seem to minimize it or roll their eyes regarding it. Are run on sentences and new multi-syllable words really a deal breaker? To me it really is a work on another level, biblical in scope, intense and entertaining, well worth the effort. Thanks for all you’re doing!

@kc9242 Your observations are direct from imfluence C. You're starting to channel. Absolutely , those who minimize or roll their "Is" at the tales are most definitely not involved with the work , in any shape or form , only in their false personality. Gurdjieff knew that this would happen when he wrote it. It's meant to deter the idle curious , who see it as just another "spiritual" book. Which is something it most certainly is not. Gurdjieff dissed the word "spiritual , " with good cause , and said the only thing it does is prepare one for the nearest lunatic asylum. When one struggles thru the text , getting a whiff of something , and continues , eventually , the purest cut diamonds make themselves known. Then words fail. And we don't , if we have any sense , throw pure cut diamonds at all and sundry. Keep at it. Above all else.

It's one of the very best fourth way exercises I've ever come across. The aim is two minutes of total concentration on the arm. Just that it's actually there. At first ten seconds is an impossibility. And it shows you just how much we are unable to truly "do". The ultimate aim of the exercise is to activate conscious will. Whereby we can "do"

@@DoctorBast only if the candle 🕯 can develop conscious will. Many years at a gurdjieff society meeting here in London a woman in her late 60s described her experience of doing the arm exercise and said , "for the very first time in my life I saw my hand". This would be a profoundly mystical experience which would defy description.

Lower back pain? Easy. Go to Argos and buy a pull-up bar. Once you've fitted it it to the doorway, don't do any pull-ups, just hang on it for a few minutes every day. Gravity heals. I cured my GF's slipped disc like that. They were going to operate, but I said "Nah nah nah," I sorted her out within about a week. She hasn't had any trouble in that regard now for years.
