True story time....whilst I took my little sister to see Aha in Shepton Mallet, England....I grabbed her hand and took her out of the queue for a moment which she has never forgotten. I found a small window around the back of the venue and pointed at three men inside a hall, rehearsing...it was Morten, Mags and Paal. My little sister freaked out. I had to quieten her down. Twenty minutes later we slowly walked off and as she whispered.."goodbye Morten..I love you", imagine her face beaming when he turned, looked straight at her..and WAVED". ..she was crying as she joined the queue. Then AHA blew us both away. These days I am a songwriter(google GHOSTED by The Crue...on SPOTIFY) and recently I met with a busker who told me he was once managed by AHA'S manager on their 1st album..how do I break that one to my sister if I bump into that dude.

Like many others, for a long time I only knew a few of A-Ha's early hit singles, but lately I discovered much of their other & more recent songs. And what a discovery that was: I can only say now they're far too good to only be remembered by some of those early hit singles.

Agree! I am 18 now but I am remember when I was 10/11 years old I heard Take on Me for the first time on the radio and immediately fell in love with the song. And the great thing is, the song itself made such an impact that I searched up on KZbin shortly after and was once again blown away by the music video. The song was honey to the ears and the video a feast for the eyes! Not to mention, I had a teeny lil crush on Morten in that video. Although Take on Me was the kind of song that I simply kept on humming at random times ever since that discovery when I was 10/11 years old, I never really bothered checking out their other music as I was just a kid that didn't really bothered with such things. However, fast forward to legitimately a week ago I decided to take a visit to the Take on Me video and once again fell in love. And because over the years my music taste expanded and my willingness to try listening to new music had opened wider, I was able to find their other very underrated gems such as Angel in the Snow, Forever Not Yours and their other 80's songs such as You are the One (cheesy but I love it!), Cry Wolf and Touchy. Even though I just started on an A-HA music journey and have yet to discover more songs I can definitely say that I now truly am an A-HA fan!

Exactly how it is here sadly. So hard to find or connect with another fan or get notifications about new albums etc- except on the internet where the majority are Brazilian. I speak just enough Spanish to fake conversations in Portuguese but it is almost bizarre how much info is not released here. I think sometimes it is actively buried and i have to wonder why. They had such a fanbase in the 1980's, posters, magazines, interviews, then suddenly just nothing. They didn't tour here for almost 20 years now when they do it is one night in a New York club or an L.A. venue. What other world-record holding band could get away with that without being mobbed by the crowds? They have toured in many small countries and filled 3 days worth of stadiums. The entire country of Brazil came to Rock in Rio back in the '90's and they still hold that record. so i have to wonder.

I just rediscovered them last year myself. It has been an amazing rabbit hole to go down. Such perfect timing for me. They have brought me much joy. I listen to them in the car, blaring the music while driving. It’s normal for me to say things out loud like “Whew! That’s amazing! Wow! Oh my God that was %*+€%#*€ hot!” Waiting to get odd looks from other drivers. 🤣

@@oldsynth I love Morten’s voice on this album a lot. He uses a deeper and kind of gravelly/scratchy voice in many songs, including this one. I also hear it a bit in Lifelines and Analog on a few songs. I believe it’s my favorite tone he has. I am always looking for it over the falsetto stuff now. Morten also wrote two songs with help from a poet friend on this album. One is “ To Let You Win”. It’s such an emotional song, I think. Magne and Pål really killed it in this album with their writing and singing. Magne on the piano/keyboard/organ and Pål on the guitar? Whew! Complete masterpiece in my opinion. I am in total love with the whole album ❤
